Job Description

Beacon Health System is a comprehensive healthcare organization dedicated to delivering outstanding care and fostering a supportive environment centered around trust, respect, integrity, and compassion. This system services a diverse patient population and strives to create a culture where personal connections are valued, communication is transparent, and every member of the healthcare team works collaboratively to achieve shared goals. Beacon Health System is known for its commitment to innovation, continuous improvement, and excellence in patient care. This dedication is reinforced by well-defined mission values and service objectives that guide all aspects of care provision and operational efficiency.

The Nutritional Services Department at Beacon Health System plays a critical role in supporting patient health outcomes through effective food service management, nutrition education, and high-quality dietary offerings. The department operates under rigorous standards to ensure all patients and customers receive optimal service and nutritional products catered to specialized dietary requirements. The full-time Dietary Services Supervisor position is a key leadership role within this department, responsible for maintaining the smooth operation of nutritional services during assigned shifts, predominantly days and night shifts when necessary. This role requires supervising associates involved in diet office, cafeteria, kitchen, and hostess activities, coordinating operational tasks, and managing various administrative responsibilities to uphold departmental standards and hospital policies.

The Dietary Services Supervisor acts as the designated person in charge according to accreditation and state regulations, ensuring compliance with all guidelines and fostering a professional, efficient work environment. Duties include overseeing workload distribution, staff scheduling, recruitment, training, and performance evaluations. The supervisor is charged with enhancing service quality by implementing process improvements, managing quality control efforts such as meal tray accuracy and temperature checks, and promoting a team-oriented atmosphere. The role also involves collaboration with other hospital departments to ensure exceptional food service delivery and participation in continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Candidates for this role should possess at least an Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in Foods, Nutrition, or a related field, with certification as a Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) highly preferred either at hiring or within the first twelve months of employment. A minimum of three years of supervisory experience in a food service or nutritional setting is required, along with a ServSafe Food Safety Manager credential to ensure knowledge of proper safety and sanitation practices. Strong leadership and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders. Physical stamina to meet job demands, including standing for prolonged periods and lifting up to 50 pounds, is necessary.

This position offers a chance to be part of a reputable health system focused on patient-centered care and operational excellence. Professionals committed to fostering innovation, cultivating human talent, embracing performance improvement, and building accountability will find this role rewarding. The Dietary Services Supervisor will not only contribute to achieving departmental cost-saving targets but also support a culture of continuous learning and job enrichment, helping to advance the overall mission of Beacon Health System.
