The organization is also known for its robust nutrition and dietary services, integral to patient care and satisfaction across its facilities.
The role of Supervisor-Nutrition Services at LLUH is a vital supervisory position responsible for overseeing the diverse functions of the nutritional services department. This role ensures that all food production, service, and diet office operations meet the established policies and procedures of LLUH. The Supervisor leads employees working in various areas such as the cafeteria, food production units, patient meal services, tray line, dish room, catering, and diet offices. This position demands careful attention to the timeliness and accuracy of menu selection, the quality of food prepared and served, and adherence to sanitation and safety protocols throughout the Nutritional Services department.
A crucial aspect of this role involves maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, ensuring all operations within Nutritional Services uphold all health and safety guidelines. The Supervisor is also responsible for various administrative functions including employee performance evaluations, managing human resource functions, monitoring time and attendance, and coordinating staff scheduling. The person in this position is expected to perform with a high standard of professionalism, maintain calm and courteous interaction under pressure, and effectively manage multiple priorities simultaneously. The position requires a blend of critical thinking, problem-solving, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
This supervisory role requires comprehensive knowledge of inventory control and competency in computer applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, as well as the ability to operate and troubleshoot basic office equipment. Given the environment, the role also necessitates good sensory abilities, including color distinction and adequate hearing for general communication and workplace sounds. Certifications including a current ServSafe certificate and a valid driver’s license upon hire are mandatory, with preferences given to candidates holding Dietetic Technician Registered (DTR), Certified Dietary Manager (CDM), Culinary Degree, Nutrition Degree, or Dietary Services Supervisor Certification (DSS). This position demands a minimum of two years of experience in a food service environment and at least one year of supervisory experience in a healthcare setting is preferred. The Supervisor-Nutrition Services position is a critical leadership role that directly impacts the quality and safety of dietary services provided to patients and staff at LLUH, making it an excellent opportunity for motivated individuals seeking to grow their careers in healthcare nutrition management.
