Job Description

Montefiore Medical Center, located in the Bronx, New York, is a leading health care provider known for its comprehensive services and commitment to community health. As a major academic medical center, Montefiore integrates clinical excellence, medical education, and innovative research to deliver exceptional patient care. Montefiore is recognized for addressing complex health challenges and providing culturally sensitive care tailored to the diverse population of the Bronx and surrounding areas. The center offers a supportive and inclusive work environment promoting professional growth and development among its staff. This particular role is within the Department of Psychiatry's Substance Abuse Treatment Program (SATP), a specialized unit focusing on the treatment and rehabilitation of patients with substance use disorders.

The available position is a clinical and administrative supervisory role responsible for overseeing a team of counselors within the SATP. It is a grant-funded, full-time, day-shift opportunity with scheduled hours from 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday. The annual pay range for this role is between $80,704.02 and $100,880.02, reflecting the importance and complexity of the position. This supervisory role plays a critical part in integrating clinical services with the clinic's administrative functions to ensure smooth operations and high-quality patient care.

The incumbent will provide clinical guidance and administrative oversight to counseling staff, facilitating their professional development while ensuring compliance with hospital and program policies. Responsibilities also include conducting new patient intakes, orienting new counselors, managing schedules, resolving conflicts, and chairing interdisciplinary team meetings to foster effective communication across clinical services. The role requires active participation in recruiting, hiring, and training new staff, as well as maintaining accurate reporting systems for senior management. Acting as the site director in their absence, the supervisor ensures the clinic's daily activities align with organizational goals. A key focus is on upholding clinical standards, fostering continuous quality improvement, and supporting patient care through medication facilitation and timely follow-up on clinical recommendations.

This position demands a leadership mindset, excellent communication skills, and a solid clinical background in substance use treatment. The supervisor will be a crucial liaison between counseling staff and upper management, promoting a collaborative, efficient environment. The opportunity to lead a multidisciplinary team within a prestigious medical center offers both professional challenges and rewards, contributing positively to public health outcomes in an underserved community.
