The role of Food Service Supervisor at Palmetto Goodwill is vital in ensuring the smooth operation of food service activities while supporting the organization's mission by supervising Food Service Workers, including individuals with disabilities, enabling them to achieve their full potential. This supervisory position involves training and coaching employees to perform their duties efficiently and safely, managing all aspects of meal service operations including maintaining high standards of cleanliness and sanitation during multiple meal services each day. The supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the thorough cleaning of facilities, equipment, and cookware according to strict military and organizational standards after meals.

This position requires operational acumen to manage equipment use safely, maintain safe and organized workspaces, and provide consistent input on employee scheduling to maximize productivity and efficiency. The Food Service Supervisor will plan work assignments aligned with daily and weekly targets and conduct regular inspections to ensure the safety and productivity of the food service operation. Compliance with all organizational policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements such as CARF accreditation and Department of Labor regulations is mandatory.

In this leadership role, the supervisor supports continuous improvement efforts, contributes to record keeping and reporting in coordination with the Project Manager, and fosters a work environment that upholds Palmetto Goodwill's values of respect and empowerment. Job Requirements

  • Supervise employees and manage the project in a cost-effective manner by establishing and applying sound supervisory policies pertaining to the organization, customer relations and workflow
  • responsible for training, management and supervision of all Food Service Workers assigned at the contract site
  • responsible for maintaining equipment and supplies
  • maintain work areas, equipment, kitchen utensils and cookware in a clean and sanitary condition under the supervision of the Project Manager
  • assists Project Manager with creating and maintaining reports and records as required
  • must work weekends

Job Qualifications

  • Experience in supervising employees in a food service environment
  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • ability to train and manage a diverse team including individuals with disabilities
  • strong organizational and planning skills
  • ability to operate food service equipment safely
  • understanding of regulatory standards including CARF and Department of Labor
  • good communication and interpersonal skills
  • experience working in compliance with military cleaning guidelines is preferred

Job Duties

  • provides input to project manager on employee schedules to maximize productivity and efficiency
  • plans work assignments to ensure daily and weekly production goals are met
  • performs daily inspections and reports on productivity and safety of the operation
  • complies with all agency policies, procedures, and safety standards and maintains compliance with CARF, Department of Labor, and other regulatory standards
  • performs other duties/tasks as assigned
