Job Description

WM is a leading environmental services company dedicated to providing comprehensive waste management and recycling solutions that help communities and businesses maintain cleaner, safer, and more sustainable environments. As a company committed to innovation and environmental responsibility, WM operates across numerous geographic locations offering a wide array of services including residential and commercial waste collection, recycling, and disposal, as well as other environmental services. WM emphasizes a culture of diversity, inclusivity, and professional growth, making it a sought-after employer in the logistics and waste management industries.

The role offered is that of a Transportation Manager responsible for overseeing transportation operations across one or more locations within an assigned geographical area. The position requires providing leadership and management to ensure that customer service levels are optimized through effective coordination between customers, operations, Customer Service Representatives (CSRs), and the support teams. This role is vital in ensuring smooth logistics operations, maintaining high standards of service, and managing resources efficiently. The Transportation Manager will be entrusted with monitoring and enhancing route scheduling, managing inventory supplies, and overseeing driver activities to maintain accurate documentation and customer satisfaction. Furthermore, this role entails developing strong customer relationships by conducting site visits and responding to service-related concerns.

In addition to operational oversight, the Transportation Manager plays a critical role in department growth and team member development. This includes managing staff performance, implementing changes to improve productivity, controlling labor costs, maintaining company assets such as vehicles and equipment, and ensuring the enforcement of safety standards and compliance regulations. The manager is expected to coach team members, provide training and development opportunities, conduct safety meetings, and perform operational audits such as route ride-alongs and spot checks. The position also requires maintaining regulatory compliance by tracking Department of Transportation (DOT) hours and managing safety files and logs.

The Transportation Manager should be a seasoned leader with significant experience in transportation and logistics, capable of creating an efficient, customer-focused operation while fostering a positive team environment. The role demands critical problem-solving skills to handle unexpected challenges such as vehicle breakdowns or route disruptions and to continuously pursue operational improvements. The manager will also be responsible for administrative functions including payroll oversight and the management of cancellation processes for customer contracts.

This is a full-time position, and while the exact salary is not specified, WM offers a competitive total compensation package along with comprehensive benefits. Prospective candidates can expect a dynamic work environment where safety, efficiency, and customer satisfaction are paramount, and where there are opportunities for professional growth within a well-established industry leader.
