GO-Biz offers myriad services aimed at supporting business owners through attraction, retention, expansion services, site selection, permit streamlining, clearing regulatory hurdles, small business assistance, international trade development, and assistance with navigating state government resources. As a pivotal entity in California's economic landscape, GO-Biz embraces a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, striving to enhance the workforce and improve the state's business climate.
The Manager, Office of Tourism role at GO-Biz is a critical leadership position within the Division of Tourism under the general supervision of the Executive Director. This full-time, permanent position, classified as Supervisor I, commands a monthly salary range of $7,172.00 to $8,910.00, with new-to-state hires typically starting at the minimum salary. This role is based in Sacramento County with a hybrid work schedule allowing telework but necessitating in-person attendance up to four times weekly at headquarters.
In this capacity, the Manager will be responsible for the planning, organization, and execution of activities associated with the California Tourism Assessment Program and the California Welcome Center Program. The California Tourism Assessment Program enables the marketing of California by assessing businesses benefiting from travel and tourism, identifying such businesses, and managing the assessment collections. The California Welcome Centers serve as official State Visitor Centers providing invaluable information and services to travelers. The Manager is tasked with overseeing the monitoring, coordinating, and continuous improvement of 22 Welcome Centers distributed statewide.
The successful candidate will bring substantial experience and leadership skills, particularly in managing complex programs that intersect government regulations, tourism marketing, and public service. The role demands expertise in customer relationship management, team leadership, budget oversight, accounting principles, and the use of financial software relevant to customer billing and revenue management. Communication skills are essential, as the Manager will frequently engage with diverse stakeholders, including business owners, government officials, and travelers. Meticulous attention to detail, robust documentation practices, and a background in managing databases and financial operations will support the efficiency and success of the programs under this role.
Joining GO-Biz means becoming part of a team committed to excellence, economic development, and inclusivity, with comprehensive benefits and opportunities for professional development. This position requires individuals who are adaptable, proactive, and passionate about advancing California's tourism industry through strategic program management and exceptional team leadership.
