The San Jose Conservation Corps + Charter School (SJCC+CS) is one of the pioneering urban conservation corps in the United States, established in 1987. Within the SJCC+CS umbrella sits the Zero Waste Silicon Valley program, which is dedicated to addressing two major challenges simultaneously: reducing systemic employment barriers for youth and managing the disposal of 30 million tons of waste annually in California. This program offers hands-on technical training in various practical skills such as forklift operation, e-waste processing, composting, and zero waste community outreach. Additionally, it cultivates essential interpersonal skills like conflict management, teamwork, and communication, preparing participants for successful careers in the waste diversion and environmental sectors.

The role of Zero Waste Supervisor I is critical in maintaining the operational excellence of the Zero Waste program at SJCC+CS. As a supervisor, you will mentor and oversee a crew of Corpsmembers, ensuring that the work plan goals related to projects and special events are executed efficiently. The position also involves building and maintaining collaborative relationships with stakeholders in the zero waste industry and playing a key role in educating and engaging the public about zero waste initiatives. This full-time, in-person role offers an hourly pay range of $29.50 to $32.64, dependent on the candidate’s experience and educational background. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating administrative and operational tasks to support waste diversion efforts, including data tracking, project documentation, and logistics support such as warehouse organization and materials coordination.
