Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and one-year related experience or associate’s degree and two years related experience
  • supervisory experience preferred
  • valid food handler's permit in state of California
  • experience working with youth
  • excellent written and verbal communication and computer proficiency

Job Duties

  • Plan, coordinate and supervise the administrative and food service activities of the department
  • log menu items seven days in advance including dietary preferences or allergies
  • fulfill to-go meal orders for work-based learning students or others
  • evaluate staff performance, provide training, and recommend personnel changes
  • assist in development and implementation of food service policies and procedures
  • plan the menu and ensure quality of meals
  • review and audit food service areas for compliance and effectiveness
  • conduct inspections of food service areas
  • manage food preparation for special functions and visitors
  • provide appetizing, nutritious and proportioned meals in a clean environment
  • maintain cost control within budget and assist in inventory control
  • coordinate cafeteria services with culinary arts program
  • conduct monthly surveys to assess student satisfaction
  • maintain a safe and clean work area
  • provide quality customer service to students and staff
  • participate in student employability programs
  • support and enforce the Job Corps’ Zero Tolerance Policy
  • promote career success standards by mentoring and monitoring behaviors
  • maintain accountability of students and property and adhere to safety practices
  • perform other duties as assigned within capabilities
