The role of Supervisor, Fleet Operations is a critical leadership position within the company’s fleet management team. This is a full-time position dedicated to overseeing the maintenance and operational integrity of the company’s vehicle fleet. The supervisor is responsible for ensuring proper use and care of physical assets, preventing equipment failures, managing vendor relations, and working closely with auto mechanics and internal customers. This supervisory position also includes managing administrative personnel within the department and ensuring that all fleet-related documentation such as maintenance records and invoicing are accurately maintained.

This role requires proactive monitoring of fleet vehicle equipment maintenance schedules and repair activities, conducting vehicle audits to ensure mechanics adhere to safety, regulatory, and appearance standards. The supervisor will analyze equipment or vehicle system failures to identify root causes, resolve issues promptly, and coordinate repairs with both internal teams and external vendors. Managing the cost-effectiveness of automotive operations is another major responsibility, which involves analyzing equipment failures and component replacement trends, reviewing expenses, and adhering to purchasing protocols to stay within budget.

Supporting automotive safety and regulatory compliance is essential in this role. The supervisor conducts facility audits, follows up on safety issues, and coordinates relevant safety and regulatory training sessions. Vendor management duties also include verifying external vendor repairs, preparing repair orders and estimates, and reviewing fleet system reports to detect any anomalies.

This position requires a candidate who combines technical knowledge, leadership capabilities, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of fleet operations management. The Supervisor, Fleet Operations plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth, safe, and cost-efficient operation of the company’s fleet, making it an indispensable function within the overall business framework.

Job Requirements

U.S. citizen or otherwise authorized to work in the U.S.

Applies legal, regulatory and safety compliance knowledge to reduce company risk
Possesses knowledge of mechanical fundamentals, maintenance, diagnosis and repair relevant to vehicle fleet operations
Manages equipment repair and oversees problem resolution with tools and machinery
Applies understanding of policies and procedures to business operations
Manages inspections of buildings, grounds, equipment, supplies or compliance documents to ensure safety and regulatory compliance
Displays knowledge of company structure and operations to resolve problems and achieve business objectives
Manages physical assets such as machinery, vehicles, and supplies
Evaluates, obtains and allocates physical asset resources and projects future needs
Coaches and develops others using career development tools
Manages vendor and internal customer relationships
Willing to work flexible shift hours and on weekends
Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification
Experience repairing vehicles or managing vehicle repair employees

Job Qualifications

Experience repairing vehicles or managing employees that repair vehicles
Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification
Knowledge of mechanical fundamentals, maintenance, diagnosis and repair related to fleet operations
Ability to manage equipment repair and oversee problem correction with tools, machinery and technical equipment
Knowledge of company structure and operations to resolve problems and make decisions
Expertise in managing vendor relationships and internal customer communications
Ability to coach and develop others using career development processes and tools

Job Duties

Ensure adequate inventory levels such as parts and tires to support business processes
Work with other groups to prevent, identify and resolve equipment and service problems
Adhere to purchasing limits, expense approval procedures, and equipment disposal guidelines to remain within cost plan
Review and approve automotive expenses
Determine employee training needs to produce continuous development plans
Provide feedback and support
Conduct performance evaluations and resolve individual and group performance issues
