Recognized for delivering superior food service, catering, and facilities solutions, Sodexo partners with clients across various industries worldwide to create memorable experiences for both consumers and employees. As a company, Sodexo values individuality, fairness, respect, and teamwork, fostering an inclusive culture that embraces diversity and promotes equal employment opportunities regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, age, gender identity, disability, sexual orientation, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic. Sodexo’s commitment to a supportive work environment ensures employee ideas are valued, voices are heard, and staff can thrive by being their authentic selves.
The role of Culinary Supervisor at Sodexo, located at Alliant Energy Center, offers a full-time employment opportunity with a competitive pay range of $21.67 to $29.25 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. This position involves varying shifts, including some weekends and holidays, with specific scheduling details provided during the interview process. As a Culinary Supervisor, you will provide hands-on supervision of daily food production and culinary operations to ensure consistency, quality, and adherence to culinary, food safety, and sanitation standards. Serving as the lead supervisor above lead cooks, the Culinary Supervisor supports sous chefs and chefs in executing production plans and service requirements. This role requires coordination of culinary staff, supervision of production schedules, enforcement of standardized recipes and portion controls, and maintenance of safe and efficient kitchen operations.
The Culinary Supervisor actively participates in food preparation while directing workflow and reinforcing operational standards to ensure smooth kitchen performance. Responsibilities will vary depending on the kitchen structure, service model, and event volume. Key duties include supporting the onboarding and on-the-job training of culinary team members, maintaining a safe and productive work environment, and meeting physical demands such as bending, lifting, and moving heavy items. Sodexo emphasizes the importance of reliability and punctuality, requiring the supervisor to attend scheduled shifts consistently.
Ideal candidates will have a minimum of 2 to 4 years of culinary experience, preferably with prior exposure as a lead cook or kitchen leader and experience in high-volume culinary operations with multiple points of sale or event-based services. A preferred educational background includes a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent. Practical knowledge of batch cooking methods and just-in-time production, along with the ability to read and execute production sheets, prep lists, and event orders, is essential. Certifications in food handling and safety, such as ServSafe Manager or equivalent, are required when applicable.
Sodexo offers a flexible and supportive work environment designed to help employees balance work-life commitments and be present for important life moments. Continuous training and development opportunities provide pathways for career growth within the company. A comprehensive benefits package supports the well-being of employees and their families, including paid time off, holidays, medical, dental, and vision insurance, tuition reimbursement, 401(k) plans, and discount programs. Additionally, some locations offer extra benefits like free meals during shifts, uniforms, safety shoes, public transportation support, and parking assistance.
Joining Sodexo means becoming part of a team focused on making a positive impact daily while enjoying a culture of respect and inclusion. If you are a dedicated culinary professional looking to advance your career within a globally recognized company, Sodexo’s Culinary Supervisor position presents an excellent opportunity to grow your skills, lead a culinary team, and contribute to outstanding food service experiences.
