The Supervisor of Building Services - Facilities Operations, Weekend position is a critical role designed to oversee and guide a multi-skilled team responsible for maintaining an optimal environment for patients, visitors, and staff. This is a full-time, weekend-centered position based at the NewYork-Presbyterian / Columbia University Irving Medical Center. The successful candidate will work from Friday through Monday with flexibility on the fifth day, ensuring continuous high-quality facility operations every weekend.

The role demands a proactive leader who can develop, implement, and sustain safe working practices across various trades including HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry, and groundskeeping. The responsibilities involve planning and maintaining work schedules, reviewing and completing work orders within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), and ensuring efficient coordination among teams and workshops to meet maintenance and repair deadlines. The supervisor also participates in weekly scheduling meetings with planners and schedulers, prepares detailed status reports for senior management, and actively participates in budget preparation, procurement processes, and BID proposals.

In this leadership position, maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction through timely and effective completion of work orders is essential. The supervisor is expected to be customer-oriented, possess excellent communication skills, and be able to organize teams to optimize performance and ensure safety compliance. This role demands a strong technical background complemented by administrative and project management skills to uphold and elevate the facility’s operational integrity.

This package acknowledges the candidate’s experience, education, and licensure, paired with comprehensive benefits. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 7 years of related experience
  • Knowledge of plumbing, HVAC systems, carpentry and low voltage and line voltage electrical systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Knowledge in the use of CMMS systems to organize and track staff work performance
  • Ability to organize a work team, measure and assess performance, monitor progress, plan projects with multiple trades and coordinate with other workshops
  • Ability to communicate effectively with superiors, peers and subordinates
  • Customer orientated

Job Qualifications
