The Superintendent role at McGough is a pivotal position responsible for the detailed planning and oversight of all stages of assigned construction projects—from pre-construction to project closeout. This leadership role not only requires managing field operations effectively but also demands shaping project success through proactive coordination, collaboration, and communication. The Superintendent plays a critical role in directing McGough’s field staff, subcontractors, and suppliers while ensuring that project goals, budgets, schedules, and quality standards are consistently met.

The Superintendent supports the preconstruction activities including crisis management planning, site logistics, safety, and compliance with site-specific rules. During construction, the Superintendent oversees all on-site operations, manages project schedules, ensures accurate documentation, addresses budgetary concerns, and drives safety programs in adherence to OSHA and company standards.

In addition to managing project execution, the Superintendent is involved in talent acquisition and training, performance management, fostering a positive team culture, and promoting alignment with McGough’s core values. They are tasked with maintaining strong client and stakeholder relationships, championing Lean construction processes, and facilitating collaboration among various departments. The Superintendent supports project closeout by managing punch list items, final inspections, and owner training. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 5-8 years of construction-related experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication and leadership skills
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, innovative and forward thinking
  • Computer literate
  • Demonstrated experience initiating and driving continuous improvement
  • Current OSHA 30 certification
  • Must be willing to travel regularly
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work in outdoor and site conditions
  • Dexterity to write and use a computer keyboard and mouse
  • Ability to hear and speak clearly
  • Ability to distinguish colors on graphs and charts

Job Qualifications

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred
  • 5-8 years of field-related experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Participate and may lead preconstruction planning including crisis management planning, site logistics and safety plans, and completion of the Redbook
  • Provide comprehensive leadership and oversight of McGough field staff, subcontractors, and suppliers on active projects
  • Supervise Superintendents and evaluate weekly work plans, schedules, and logistics
  • Implement and maintain the project schedule ensuring timely updates
  • Manage project budgets and forecasts for labor, material, and equipment
  • Oversee implementation of the site-specific Quality Control plan
  • Champion the culture of safety through leadership in orientations and safety meetings
  • Lead Lean construction initiatives and guide team in Pull-Planning and continuous improvement
  • Organize and lead Superintendent and coordination meetings to ensure cross-functional alignment
  • Troubleshoot and resolve on-site challenges minimizing impact on progress
  • Support project closeout efforts including punch list completion and final inspections
  • Build and sustain strong working relationships with clients, design teams, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders
  • Participate in talent acquisition, onboarding, and performance management
  • Promote ethical conduct and foster an inclusive, safe work environment
  • Actively contribute to business development and represent McGough at events
  • Support construction process improvements and innovations
  • Manage key external relationships and partnerships
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support team and project success
