Job Description
The City of Blue Ash is a vibrant municipality located in Ohio, known for its commitment to providing exceptional community services and recreational opportunities to its residents. Blue Ash is home to beautiful parks, recreational centers, and community spaces that host a variety of events and programs throughout the year. Among these treasured assets is Summit Park, a 130-acre park that serves as one of the premier outdoor event venues in the Cincinnati area. This extensive park offers a dynamic environment perfect for community engagement, outdoor recreation, and an array of public events. The City's dedication to fostering a strong sense of community and providing accessible, quality programming makes it an ideal place for professionals passionate about event coordination and community programming to contribute and grow.
The City of Blue Ash is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join its Recreation Department as an Events and Programs Coordinator at Summit Park. This is a part-time permanent position offering an hourly wage between $18.62 and $21.56, averaging 20 to 25 hours of work per week year-round. The Coordinator will report directly to the Summit Park Programming and Events Manager and play a vital role in managing and executing community programs and special events within the park. This role is essential to the seamless operation and success of Summit Park’s diverse offerings, which include everything from seasonal ice rink programming to the coordination of major city-wide summer events.
The position demands a proactive self-starter who can effectively manage multiple projects independently while collaborating closely with the rest of the Programming and Events Team. The role involves overseeing all stages of event planning, contract management, vendor coordination, and on-site logistics. Successful candidates will handle communications with program partners, vendors, and clients, ensuring that events run smoothly and meet community expectations. The nature of the job requires flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, often supporting large-scale events that are key highlights in Blue Ash’s community calendar.
This dynamic position offers comprehensive professional development opportunities, including paid on-site training, potential for leadership advancement, and merit-based increases for high performers. Employees also benefit from contributions to the Ohio Public Employee Retirement System and exclusive recreational perks such as a free individual membership to the Blue Ash Recreation Center, with discounts available for family members. Additional employee discounts extend to the Blue Ash Golf Course, Sand Trap Grill Restaurant, and Café Alma at the Rec, further enhancing the overall employment experience.
Candidates for this role should have a high school diploma or equivalent and bring experience in event planning, administrative coordination, or community programming. Key skills include strong organizational abilities, excellent communication, problem-solving aptitude, and the flexibility to adapt in a fast-paced, outdoor event environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the capacity to learn new software tools are important for the administrative demands of the position.
Overall, the Events and Programs Coordinator at Summit Park is a critical team member ensuring that Blue Ash continues to offer vibrant, well-coordinated events that enrich the community and maintain the City’s reputation as a hub for recreation and community engagement. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a high-profile public space, engage directly with diverse populations, and develop a rewarding career in public event coordination.
