Job Description
Cemstone® has established itself as a leader in the ready-mix concrete industry throughout the upper Midwest, recognized for its commitment to quality products and outstanding service. With nearly 100 years of experience as a family-owned business, Cemstone has built an enduring reputation by adhering to its core values which emphasize integrity, excellence, and customer satisfaction. The company takes pride in contributing to the construction of significant infrastructures that shape communities and improve everyday life. This long-standing tradition of expertise is backed by a dedicated team specialized in delivering top-tier concrete solutions tailored to meet the needs of diverse construction projects.
Joining Cemstone means becoming part of a company that values both its employees and customers deeply. As a Quality Control Technician, you will play a crucial role within the company framework by ensuring that the raw materials and finished products meet or exceed strict quality standards. This includes testing aggregates used at production sites for moisture content, particle size distribution, and sieving parameters to guarantee compliance with specifications. After concrete production, you will conduct a series of quality control assessments including measurement of concrete temperature, slump, unit weight, air content, and yield. These tests are vital to verifying that project-specific requirements and customer specifications are fully satisfied.
Additionally, your responsibilities will extend to monitoring the quality and consistency of concrete at construction sites before placement, ensuring optimal performance and durability. Effective communication with operations, dispatch, and engineering staff is essential to report your findings promptly and to collaborate closely in resolving any issues related to material quality or placement techniques. The role emphasizes both technical proficiency and customer service as you engage directly with clients and engineering teams to support project success.
The position requires meticulous attention to detail as you will be responsible for calibrating production equipment, sampling and testing raw materials, and maintaining records such as daily journals and sample reports. Maintaining cleanliness and proper calibration of your testing equipment is key to reliable results. Professionalism in appearance and conduct, as outlined in the Cemstone Employee Handbook, is mandatory to uphold the company’s reputation in all interactions. This role offers an hourly pay rate ranging from $18.00 to $19.00 and includes a comprehensive benefits package that supports employee health, wellness, and career growth.
