Job Description

Hotel Magdalena is a distinguished 89-room hotel located in Austin, Texas, that celebrates the local heritage and natural beauty of the region. Drawing inspiration from the lake house culture of the 1970s, the hotel is nestled among rolling landscapes and offers a unique and authentic atmosphere that resonates deeply with both locals and visitors. As part of the renowned Bunkhouse Group, Hotel Magdalena benefits from the company’s dedication to design, music, and community-driven hospitality experiences. Bunkhouse is widely recognized for its portfolio of revitalized hospitality properties across the United States, each project emphasizing a balance of authentic cultural expression and modern comfort.

At Hotel Magdalena, guests have access to unique local venues such as Summer House on Music Lane and Magdalena Bar, where the community comes together to enjoy exceptional food and beverage offerings. The establishment’s commitment to an inviting and personable guest experience is demonstrated by its high service standards and the role each employee plays in cultivating the welcoming, vibrant atmosphere the hotel is known for.

The Bartender role at Hotel Magdalena presents an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about the hospitality industry and cocktail culture. As a Bartender, you will be responsible for mixing and serving drinks to guests either directly or through wait staff, ensuring excellent customer service and adherence to Bunkhouse policies. This position requires proficiency in crafting a variety of cocktails, managing bar operations, and maintaining the aesthetic appeal of the bar area. In addition to preparing drinks, bartenders serve food items from the bar menu and handle all aspects of bar-related food preparation.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills and conflict resolution capabilities, as well as a deep understanding of company practices and culture. Bartenders at Hotel Magdalena are expected to engage warmly with all guests, making each patron feel valued and welcome. Furthermore, this role involves active participation in maintaining the company’s reputation by upholding its core values in interactions with guests, staff, vendors, and partners. The position also includes responsibilities such as balancing cash receipts, verifying legal drinking age, and responding swiftly to guest concerns.

Hotel Magdalena also offers a comprehensive benefits package to support the well-being and professional growth of its employees. These benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k) plan with company matching, free room nights, and discounted friend and family room rates. Generous paid time off and wellness initiatives, including complimentary access to Headspace, further demonstrate the hotel’s commitment to work-life balance. Employees also enjoy discounts at popular retailers such as Apple, AT&T, Verizon, and more.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments and enjoys building meaningful connections through exceptional service. Whether you are looking to advance your bartending skills or deepen your hospitality career with a respected and innovative company, Hotel Magdalena provides a supportive workplace that values diversity, equal opportunity, and employee development. It welcomes candidates from diverse backgrounds and encourages individuals to apply even if they do not meet every qualification but have the drive to contribute to the team’s success.
