The Reno-Sparks Indian Colony is a vibrant community organization located in Reno, Nevada, representing the descendants of three Great Basin Indigenous peoples: the Numu (Northern Paiute), Newe (Western Shoshone), and Washeshu (Washoe). These peoples have a rich cultural heritage characterized by their historic harmony with the land and deep-rooted traditions that have been preserved for generations. The Reno-Sparks Indian Colony is dedicated to supporting the well-being, culture, and future of its tribal members while fostering community engagement and resilience through various programs and services.

This summer, the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony is seeking a Seasonal Summer Foods Service Program Assistant Cook. This is an onsite position based in Reno, Nevada, offering competitive pay ranging from $16.98 to $20.28 per hour depending on experience. Job Duties

  • Assist in preparing meals according to planned menus, recipes and meal requirements
  • assist with serving meals and clean up
  • assist with supervision of children at mealtimes
  • be accountable for dishwashing
  • maintain clean and sanitary kitchen, storeroom and dining area
  • assist in maintaining all equipment in proper working order
  • assist with program related record keeping and monitoring as assigned
  • perform other related duties as assigned by the SFSP Coordinator or Head Cook
  • purchase, receive and store food and supply items used for SFSP
  • attend preservice and required trainings such as Food Handler's and SFSP Orientation
