We are excited to announce an opening for the role of Youth Services Director specifically for the Teen Camp program. This position offers a unique opportunity to lead and coordinate a summer filled with innovative and engaging activities tailored for children and teens. Reporting to the Recreation Coordinator, the Youth Services Director will play a crucial role in planning, supervising, and delivering an exceptional camp experience that prioritizes safety, creativity, and developmental growth. This role is seasonal with scheduling from June through mid-August, featuring four 10-hour shifts from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm, offering a competitive hourly wage ranging from $20.04 to $22.57.

The Youth Services Director will be responsible for crafting age-appropriate lesson plans, organizing large-scale events, and overseeing staff performance to ensure that campers receive positive mentorship and a high-quality recreational experience. This role demands strong leadership skills, the ability to work autonomously, and a passion for youth development. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to maintain a safe environment, respond effectively to emergencies, and communicate clearly with both parents and participants. Driving responsibilities involve transporting campers in city vehicles or a 14-passenger van for field trips and excursions, requiring a valid Colorado Driver's License and a clean driving record.

This position goes beyond traditional supervisory duties by fostering a creative and supportive atmosphere where youths can thrive. The ideal candidate will be motivated, customer-service oriented, and capable of adapting to a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. Bilingual Spanish skills are desirable and valued. The role requires physical ability to lift up to 40 pounds and engage in various physical activities such as running, bending, and standing for extended periods. Additionally, the job involves working in outdoor and indoor settings with potential exposure to noise, environmental conditions, and occasional emergencies.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 21 years of age
  • Current CPR/First Aid and Medication Administration certificates or ability to obtain within 10 days
  • Current Standard Precautions certification or ability to obtain within 30 days
  • Valid Colorado Driver's License and supply Motor Vehicle Record within 10 days
  • Ability to work with youth and/or teens
  • Background check and fingerprinting required
  • Ability to drive 14 passenger van
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Physical ability to lift up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to work in fast paced and changing environment

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Perform job duties autonomously
  • Research, develop, and implement age-appropriate lesson plans and activities for youth and families
  • Assist in planning and implementation of large-scale events
  • Act as site supervisor during program hours
  • Supervise and direct staff in programs
  • Responsible for care and safety of participants and guests, maintaining safe environment
  • Evaluate and document participant growth, communicate with parents
  • Respond to emergency situations and maintain accurate reporting
  • Drive city vehicle and 14-passenger van transporting participants
  • Maintain accurate participant files and compose parent communication
  • Maintain stock of necessary supplies and organize program area
  • Assist in evaluations of program staff
  • Comply with city and department rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned
