Job Description
Mandarin Oriental, New York, is an acclaimed luxury hotel located in the heart of Manhattan, offering a unique blend of modern design and stylish oriental flair. The hotel features 244 elegant guestrooms and suites that provide breathtaking views of New York City and Central Park. Known for its exceptional Five-Star hospitality, the hotel includes premium amenities such as the MO Lounge, an all-day dining venue with panoramic views, a 14,500 square-foot Five-Star spa, and a state-of-the-art fitness center with a 75-foot lap pool. The hotel also boasts extensive meeting and event spaces, including a 6,000 square-foot pillar-less ballroom with three walls of windows overlooking Central Park. Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, the owner and operator, is globally recognized for managing some of the most luxurious hotels and residences, upholding legendary service inspired by Asian heritage, and pushing the boundaries of luxury experiences internationally.
The Substitute Bar Server position at Mandarin Oriental, New York, is an integral role within the Food and Beverage team, particularly in the hotel's recently launched venue, "The Bar." This full-time substitute role calls for an individual who excels in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and who is passionate about delivering exceptional guest experiences. The ideal candidate should thrive on the principles of integrity, respect, and continuous growth, embodying the company’s philosophy and culture daily through legendary quality experiences.
As a Substitute Bar Server, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the dining environment, supporting seamless service by efficiently retrieving supplies, beverages, and food orders, and ensuring accuracy and guest satisfaction throughout the service. You will work closely with the Bar Manager and Food and Beverage Manager, supporting the full range of service duties, from greeting guests and taking orders to managing payments and maintaining service areas. This role demands keen attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a comprehensive knowledge of food, wines, liquors, and cocktails to appropriately inform and upsell to guests.
The role also requires strict adherence to company service standards, state and federal liquor regulations, and safety guidelines, contributing to a secure and welcoming atmosphere for both guests and staff. Substitute Bar Servers are expected to be proactive in anticipating guests' needs, contributing to a positive and memorable experience that aligns with Mandarin Oriental’s mission and standards. The successful candidate will have a minimum of three years’ experience in a similar role within a luxury setting and demonstrate the ability to multitask effectively while maintaining high standards of personal grooming and hygiene.
With an hourly pay range from $17.95 to $23.93, commensurate with experience, the position offers a competitive benefits package through the Employee Benefits Fund. Working at Mandarin Oriental is more than a job—it is an opportunity to be part of a hospitality family committed to employee development, wellbeing, and recognition. It offers unique learning programs, a global accommodation benefit through the MOstay program, comprehensive health and wellness initiatives, and retirement plans reflecting long-term commitment. This is a perfect opportunity for an experienced professional seeking to contribute to a luxury brand known worldwide for its exemplary service and quality.
