Mandarin Oriental New York is a prestigious luxury hotel located in the heart of Manhattan, renowned for its exceptional hospitality and elegant fusion of modern design with oriental flair. This iconic establishment boasts 244 sophisticated guestrooms and suites featuring stunning views of Central Park and the Manhattan skyline. Guests enjoy access to top-tier amenities including the MO Lounge, all-day dining options, a 14,500 square-foot five-star spa, a state-of-the-art fitness center with a 75-foot lap pool, and premium event spaces such as a 6,000 square-foot pillarless ballroom with expansive windows overlooking Central Park. The hotel prides itself on delivering The Mandarin Experience—a blend of legendary service inspired by Asian heritage and cutting-edge luxury innovations.
The role of Substitute Banquet Tournant within Mandarin Oriental New York's Culinary team is an essential position responsible for supporting the smooth execution of banquet services and elevating guest satisfaction. This full-time, permanent role falls within the Culinary/Kitchen department and demands flexibility, adaptability, and a passion for fine dining. The Substitute Banquet Tournant is tasked with preparing and serving food according to menus and guest requirements, ensuring all provisions meet the esteemed standards of quality, presentation, and timeliness that guests expect at a luxury five-star hotel.
This position requires the ability to work collaboratively with fellow chefs, kitchen staff, and service teams in a fast-paced environment. The Substitute Banquet Tournant must maintain supreme cleanliness and organization in all working areas while upholding safety standards and proper kitchen protocol. Because the role involves handling a wide variety of foods and cooking techniques—from modern to classical—it calls for culinary versatility and high-level knife skills. The successful candidate must also demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning, a positive attitude, and resilience under pressure.
With an hourly pay rate ranging from $35.42 to $47.23, commensurate with experience and standards as per the International Workers Association guidelines, this position offers a competitive salary package alongside a comprehensive range of benefits. Mandarin Oriental New York supports employee growth through unique learning and development programs, promotes health and wellness via dedicated initiatives, and offers retirement plans tailored to employee tenure and role.
Joining Mandarin Oriental New York as a Substitute Banquet Tournant means becoming part of an award-winning luxury hotel group recognized globally for its exceptional properties and service excellence. If you have a passion for culinary arts, thrive in a teamwork-driven environment, and aspire to grow within a world-class hospitality brand, this opportunity is designed for you. The hotel proudly embraces diversity, inclusion, and accessibility, ensuring reasonable accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act for all employees.
