The role of the Assistant Manager at Slim Chickens is a pivotal leadership position tasked with supporting the General Manager in delivering outstanding restaurant operations. This full-time position requires a dedicated individual who can lead by example, motivate a team, and ensure an exceptional customer experience. The Assistant Manager plays a critical role in overseeing daily restaurant functions, including operations, administration, and team leadership.
The Assistant Manager is responsible for supervising team members, ensuring adherence to food quality and safety standards, and maintaining the company’s high expectations for cleanliness, speed, and hospitality. In the absence of the General Manager, the Assistant Manager assumes full operational responsibility, making decisive leadership necessary to run the restaurant smoothly and efficiently.
Key responsibilities include managing daily restaurant operations, leading and training hourly team members and shift leaders, assigning daily duties to maintain productivity, balancing cash registers, handling banking deposits, and managing inventory levels to ensure adequate product availability. The Assistant Manager is also tasked with ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal health and safety regulations, thereby upholding the restaurant's reputation and legal standards.
Equally important are the administrative duties: assisting with recruitment, hiring, and ongoing training to build and retain a high-performing team; evaluating employee performance and providing constructive feedback or disciplinary measures when necessary; and managing labor costs and staff scheduling to optimize operational coverage.

- High school diploma or GED
- Previous supervisory or management experience in food service preferred
- Strong math skills
- Strong communication skills

Job Duties
- Supervise daily restaurant operations to maintain high standards in food quality, speed of service, cleanliness, and hospitality
- Lead, train, and schedule hourly team members and Shift Leaders
- Assign daily responsibilities and maintain productive workflow throughout the shift
- Balance cash registers and complete banking deposits during opening and closing shifts
- Order and manage inventory to ensure adequate product levels
- Ensure all operations comply with local, state, and federal health and safety regulations
- Assist in recruiting, hiring, and training high-performing team members
- Support onboarding and ongoing training to promote team growth and retention
- Evaluate team performance and provide guidance, corrective actions, or recognition
