The Student Worker - Event Planner is a vital part-time position within the Office of Student Experience at Florida Polytechnic University. This role offers students the unique opportunity to engage meaningfully with campus life by planning, organizing, and supporting a variety of university-wide events and traditions designed to enhance the overall student experience. The Office of Student Experience is responsible for major events such as Purple Fire Week, Casino Night, and Moonlight Breakfast, in addition to overseeing the Campus Activities Board and leadership initiatives. The Student Event Planner position typically involves an average commitment of 10 hours per week and requires the selected individual to actively participate in event coordination from conception to execution while supporting marketing and advertising efforts to ensure robust student engagement. Starting in May 2026 and running through June 2027, this role plays a critical part in maintaining the vibrancy of campus traditions, facilitating communication between student organizations, vendors, and staff, and contributing to the continuous improvement of event planning processes through evaluation and teamwork. The hourly compensation for this role is $14.25, offering students valuable professional development experience in event planning, communication, budgeting, and teamwork within a supportive and innovative university environment.

  • attended Florida Polytechnic University for at least one academic year or one semester for transfer students
  • maintain good academic standing per university policies
  • maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 and semester GPA of 2.25 or greater
  • be in good standing with the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities
  • actively participate in all training programs, sessions, staff meetings, and Florida Poly U Lead program
  • demonstrate sensitivity to diversity and appreciation of differences
  • ability to work effectively with diverse groups
  • show team leadership, responsibility, and maintain competence, discretion, and confidentiality

Job Duties

  • Facilitates planned Office of Student Experience events and activities for all Florida Poly students under director's guidance
  • Seeks and implements innovative event ideas through research and networking with the student body
  • Collaborates with Office of Student Experience Lead Event Planners, Registered Student Organizations, and staff to develop and evaluate events
  • Maintains communication with vendors and merchants using professional skills
  • Determines fiscal requirements, provides budget recommendations, and negotiates with vendors
  • Designs and prepares marketing materials for events and activities
  • Promotes events using Florida Poly platforms such as Phoenix Link, Campus Calendar, Weekly Phoenix, and Discord
  • Assists with administering surveys and developing reports
  • Supports logistics including set-up, tear-down, furniture moving, and organizing supplies
  • Keeps organized files, records, and event evaluations for future planning
  • Operates independently within a larger team
  • Attends all Florida U Lead workshops and trainings as scheduled
  • Performs other duties as assigned
