The Student Worker - Barista position at Aramark embodies the company’s commitment to exceptional service and quality. The Student Worker - Barista is responsible for accurately handling financial transactions via register or POS systems, following specific recipes to prepare coffees, teas, and specialty drinks per brand standards, and ensuring compliance with health and safety policies. This position emphasizes teamwork, customer interaction, and attention to detail in maintaining the coffee bar and related workstations.
As a Student Worker - Barista, you will engage directly with customers, greeting them warmly while anticipating their needs to provide personalized service. You will also manage the organization and balance of the cash drawer, complete cashier slips, and make deposits in line with Aramark’s cash handling procedures. Setting up and breaking down stations daily, cleaning and sanitizing work areas, restocking supplies, and adhering to food safety guidelines are key components of daily duties.
This role requires physical activity such as lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended periods of walking or standing. It may also require wearing uniforms and personal protective equipment (PPE). Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- basic math skills
- ability to handle cash transactions accurately
- physical ability to lift, bend, push, pull and stand for extended periods
- ability to work independently with limited supervision
- willingness to follow company dress code and safety policies
- ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English
- completion of Food Handling Certification as required
- flexible with work schedule
- willingness to wear uniforms and personal protective equipment
Job Qualifications
- Previous customer service experience preferred
- previous cash handling experience preferred
- previous experience as a barista preferred
- basic math and counting skills required
- must be able to work independently with limited supervision
- must follow required dress code as assigned
- able to read and communicate in English and able to follow recipes
- complete food handling certification as required
Job Duties
- Accurately operate a register/POS and handle cash and credit card transactions
- greet and assist customers while anticipating their needs
- prepare and serve coffees, teas, specialty beverages per brand standards
- prepare and serve food items in line with location standards
- count, organize and balance cash drawer, fill out the cashier slip and make deposits
- adhere to Aramark’s cash handling policies and procedures
- set up and breakdown coffee bar, stations or store including cleaning and sanitizing
- maintain clean and sanitary work area
- stock beverage coolers, grab and go items, service ware and condiments
- follow health, safety, and sanitation guidelines for all products
