Established in 1874 as Nevada's original land-grant university, UNR serves over 23,000 undergraduate and graduate students hailing from all 50 states and 63 countries. The university is classified as an R1 "Very High Research" institution, reflecting its strong emphasis on research excellence and community engagement, as evidenced by its Carnegie Community Engagement classification. UNR ranks among the "Best National Universities" and "Best National Public Universities" according to U.S. News & World Report, and it features prominently in the WSJ/Times Higher Education World University Rankings and the New York Times' "Top Colleges for Economic Diversity."

Over the years, UNR has invested nearly $1 billion in state-of-the-art labs, facilities, and residence halls on its main campus in Reno, which sits at the exciting intersection of the Great Basin and High Sierra. This vibrant campus is not only a hub for education and research but also Nevada's State Arboretum. The university offers a wide range of programs, including Nevada’s first medical school and the Wayne L. Prim Campus at Lake Tahoe, where education, research, and creative endeavors flourish in a mountain setting. UNR also engages with communities across Nevada through its Extension program, Agricultural Experiment Station, Bureau of Mines and Geology, Small Business Development Center, Seismological Laboratory, and Wolf Pack Athletics.

Designed as a student employee role with a compensation grade of Student Employee Level 3, the position offers a salary of $7,000 distributed evenly over a 12-month period for a single term appointment. The opportunity invites driven, organized, and passionate undergraduate students who meet eligibility requirements to contribute to enriching the campus life and student engagement through innovative event planning and management.

This position requires adherence to the ASUN Governing Documents and the Nevada Student Code of Conduct, punctual participation in meetings and training, and ethical conduct with a high level of integrity. Preferred candidates have prior experience in ASUN or related event programming roles, possess skills in budget management, event marketing, leadership, risk management, and show a strong commitment to inclusion, accessibility, and enhancing the overall student experience. Flexibility, mentoring capability, and the passion to bring novel ideas to fruition are highly valued.
