Committed to its Catholic and Assumptionist heritage, the university offers a rich educational environment that values dignity, equality, and respect for all its students, staff, and faculty. As part of its mission, Assumption University seeks to provide students with opportunities for academic, social, cultural, and personal growth, creating an environment where every individual feels welcome and empowered to excel and contribute positively. The university actively prohibits discrimination based on race, color, national origin, religion, disability, age, veteran status, marital status, gender identity, sexual orientation, and other protected categories, ensuring a respectful and supportive campus experience for all.
The role of Student Engagement Coordinator at Assumption University is an essential live-in position that involves creating and implementing engaging programs and initiatives to build a vibrant campus culture. This 12-month position includes residence in an on-campus furnished apartment, making it unique in blending work responsibilities with community living. The coordinator works closely with a variety of student organizations, providing leadership development opportunities and supporting student activities outside typical business hours, including nights, late nights, and weekends. This comprehensive role supports the university’s mission by ensuring programs align with the Catholic liberal arts identity and by fostering an environment where students can thrive personally and academically.
The Student Engagement Coordinator oversees Pierre’s Pub & Lounge, the campus’s late-night venue, managing its daily operations to create a welcoming, safe, and lively space for students, alumni, and visitors. Responsibilities extend from planning live entertainment such as music and themed events, managing front-of-house operations and staff, to ensuring compliance with health, safety, and alcohol service regulations. The coordinator plays a critical role in maintaining the venue’s facilities and technology in partnership with various university departments and communicates regularly with senior staff to support operational excellence.
Beyond the day-to-day, the coordinator serves on university committees and professional organizations, maintaining current knowledge of trends within student affairs, entertainment, and hospitality. The position also involves budget management for late-night programming, supporting alumni relations, and offering guidance to student organizations hosting campus events. Through dynamic program planning aligned with the academic calendar and seasonal demand, the coordinator maximizes student participation and enhances campus life quality.
This role requires excellent organizational and communication skills, the ability to multitask in a busy environment, and a commitment to the university’s inclusive and values-driven mission. It offers a unique opportunity to impact student engagement meaningfully while developing professionally within a collaborative team. This position is integral to the overall Student Affairs department and participates actively in university-wide events, fostering a positive and service-oriented atmosphere that supports student success and campus vibrancy.
