Job Description
El Paso Community College (EPCC) is a comprehensive community college serving the El Paso region with a commitment to providing quality education and workforce training that meets the needs of its diverse population. Established to foster student success through a variety of academic and technical programs, EPCC plays a vital role in the community by equipping students with skills for immediate employment or for continuing their education at four-year institutions. The college prides itself on its inclusive environment, experienced faculty, and dedication to student development and career readiness. EPCC also emphasizes hands-on learning experiences in real-world settings, making it an ideal institution for programs such as Culinary Services.
The role of Hospitality Events and Food Service Coordinator is an integral position within the Culinary Services Program at EPCC, focusing on coordinating and supervising hospitality events and food service activities involving students. This position requires in-person work on campus, ensuring that day-to-day operations at EPCC's food service outlets at both the Transmountain and Mission del Paso campuses run smoothly. The coordinator will supervise culinary students and kitchen staff, coordinating assignments to facilitate efficient and timely food production while maintaining quality and safety standards.
In this role, you will be responsible for managing operations that deliver exceptional customer service and maintaining sanitation and safety standards aligned with industry and program requirements. You will assist in reviewing and managing budgets, monitoring financial transactions, and analyzing food, labor, and overhead costs to guarantee cost-effective management of campus food service areas. Menu planning and waste prevention are key components of the responsibility, requiring strategic oversight to optimize resources and address catering requests with professionalism and responsiveness.
Effective communication with the Student Culinary Services Manager and other program leadership is essential for reporting progress, sharing customer feedback, and recommending program improvements. The coordinator must demonstrate strong leadership and organizational skills, overseeing culinary students’ development through training and supervision while fostering a team-oriented environment. This security-sensitive position entails undergoing background and motor vehicle checks and requires certifications such as a current El Paso City-County Food Handler’s card. The position offers an opportunity to shape the educational experience of future culinary professionals while contributing to campus hospitality excellence.
