This particular role as a Student Food Service Employee for the Fall 2026 Semester involves a range of responsibilities, primarily assisting full-time staff in food preparation, cooking, serving, and maintaining sanitation standards. The position can entail working in any food service location on campus and requires versatility in duties such as cashiering, dishwashing, cleaning, and direct customer interaction. Jobs include cutting, slicing, and preparing fresh vegetables and various meats following recipes and food safety protocols. Employees will receive training in food safety standards and service regulations required by the university. This role demands the ability to maintain a fast-paced workflow in a high-volume environment while ensuring a positive guest experience. Employees must have a professional demeanor and adhere to hygiene standards, along with the physical stamina to stand for prolonged periods and lift weights up to 30 pounds regularly. The work environment includes exposure to kitchen hazards like hot surfaces, steam, fire, and slippery floors, demanding attentiveness and care for safety. Additionally, work may occur in refrigerated and temperature-controlled areas. The role involves scheduled evening and weekend shifts with very limited early morning shifts and demands a minimum weekly availability of 12 hours. The position requires the employee to be at least 18 years old and either currently enrolled or able to provide proof of registration at a university or another educational institution.
