The Server role at Flanigan's is vital to the smooth running of each meal service. Servers are the frontline representatives who greet and guide guests throughout their dining experience, from taking orders to timely serving, and attending to the smallest details that enhance guest satisfaction. Responsibilities include knowledge of the menu, including food, beverages, and current specials or promotions, which the server must communicate clearly to guests. The position requires proficiency with the point-of-sale (POS) system for order entry and payment processing, ensuring transactions are accurate and timely. Servers must also support their coworkers by maintaining the overall appearance of tables and assisting with food or drink running as needed. The role demands physical endurance, including standing and walking for the entire shift, bending, reaching, and the ability to lift and carry plates up to 50 lbs.

Beyond serving orders, the server must be attentive to guests' demeanor, knowing when to escalate issues to management to maintain the highest customer satisfaction. Servers are also responsible for maintaining restroom cleanliness, performing sidework assigned during the shift, and following all company safety and sanitation policies rigorously. Completion and passing of Florida's Responsible Vendor program and food safety certification in compliance with both Flanigan's and Florida statutes are mandatory, ensuring all service aligns with legal and company standards.

Job Duties

  • Follow all company safety and sanitation policies and procedural training
  • support fellow employees in maintaining table appearance, food and drink running, etc. as needed
  • be knowledgeable regarding food and beverage menus and items, current food and/or drink promotions and specials, and answer guests’ questions clearly
  • accurately write down guests’ orders and enter into POS system in a timely manner
  • retrieve food or drink orders from kitchen or bar and deliver them to guests in a timely manner
  • assess guests’ demeanor and identify when to summon a manager
  • collect guests’ payments including credit cards, cash, or gift cards, ensure transactions are correct using POS efficiently, calculate and deliver correct change in a timely manner
  • perform shift changes, opening/closing duties, assigned sidework
  • restock and maintain restroom cleanliness for guests
