The Structural Planner Estimator position at Life Cycle Engineering plays a crucial role in supporting the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard's Engineering and Planning Department at Bremerton, WA. This role focuses on the structural aspects of shipboard systems, specifically for submarines, engaging in activities such as project and material planning, technical document development, packaging, and records management. Employees in this role work directly with submarine mechanical, electrical, or structural systems, ensuring proper planning and execution of maintenance, repairs, and upgrades. A key part of the job includes providing detailed technical support, trouble desk assistance, and engineering technician services. The work involves evaluating actual shipboard conditions through ship checks and creating comprehensive task group instructions and technical work documents using specialized systems such as AIM, AIM-XP, ATIS, SDI, JEDMICS, CITIS, and SECNET.

The Structural Planner Estimator is responsible for researching and ordering materials, preparing quality assurance documentation, compiling allowance parts lists, and mentoring junior engineers on various shipboard systems. This role demands a high level of expertise in Los Angeles Class and Virginia Class submarine maintenance, repairs, and modernization efforts, with specific focus on structural components such as the superstructure, fairwater, pressure hull, ballast tanks, internal bulkheads, and more. The position requires U.S. citizenship with eligibility to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance, a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, and at least ten years of practical engineering experience related to naval ships or military shipyard environments.
