Job Description

General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) is a global technology and professional services company providing advanced technology solutions and mission services to government, defense, and intelligence agencies. With over 26,000 experts worldwide operating in more than 50 countries, GDIT is committed to advancing innovation and ensuring security for complex government projects. The company excels in domains such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and software development to deliver mission-critical capabilities that impact national security and public welfare. As a federally aligned organization, GDIT values the contributions of its workforce and fosters an inclusive culture where employees are empowered to grow and make a difference. Through continuous professional development and internal mobility programs, GDIT supports career growth while cultivating technical expertise and leadership skills.

The role of Strength and Conditioning Specialist at GDIT is instrumental in supporting federal civilian agencies by designing, delivering, and evaluating evidence-based physical training programs that enhance strength, conditioning, injury resilience, and operational readiness. This position involves instructing movement mechanics, overseeing individual and group training regimens, and collaborating closely with Human Performance and Sports Medicine professionals to ensure a holistic approach to physical fitness and injury recovery. The Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring personnel, particularly special operations forces (SOF), maintain peak physical performance across diverse environments such as garrison, field, temporary duty assignments (TDY/TAD), and deployed settings.

The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in exercise science, health science, or a related physical education discipline, with a master’s degree preferred. Maintaining current certification by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) or Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) is required. A minimum of two years’ experience in strength and conditioning coaching at an elite athletic or military level, such as NCAA Division I, Olympic, professional sports, or specialized Air Force and SOF operators, is essential. Certification in basic CPR and AED training, alongside physical proficiency to perform all prescribed exercises and operate safely in austere environments, is mandatory. A Secret or Top-Secret clearance, or eligibility to obtain one, is necessary due to the sensitive nature of the work and potential deployment sites.

As a valued member of GDIT’s Human Performance team, the Strength and Conditioning Specialist will engage in program design and administration, ensuring rapid and efficient customization to meet SOF needs. This role demands coordination with multidisciplinary teams to facilitate safe return-to-duty pathways for personnel recovering from injury and adherence to facility safety standards for equipment and space. The Specialist will be responsible for maintaining clean, organized, and safe training environments while collaborating on standard operating procedures and protocols. This position is slated to begin in 2027 and offers the opportunity to work at various locations both within the continental United States (CONUS) and outside (OCONUS), supporting critical national defense initiatives.

GDIT fosters a culture that embraces autonomy, opportunity, and impact—attributes well-aligned with the values and responsibilities required for a Strength and Conditioning Specialist. The salary range for this role is estimated between $63,312 and $85,658 and includes comprehensive benefits such as 401K with company match, health insurance, paid vacation, and professional growth opportunities. Candidates can expect to undergo an identity verification process leveraging biometric and AI technology during the interview to ensure security and authenticity. Join GDIT’s mission-driven team and contribute to advancing the effectiveness and well-being of U.S. government personnel through superior physical performance and injury resilience programs.
