KC Streetcar, operated by Herzog Transit Services, Inc., within Kansas City, MO, is actively looking for Streetcar Operators to join their dynamic team. Job Requirements
- Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle record review
- Maintain a valid driver’s license and endorsements as required
- Pass pre-employment DOT physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen
- Pass and maintain annual DOT medical evaluations
- Successfully complete and maintain required safety certification and testing
- Able to walk on uneven surfaces up to one-half mile
- Maintain balance for extended periods while train is in motion
- Be aware of surroundings and follow verbal commands amid moderately loud noise
- Work in confined spaces as narrow as 24 inches
- Adapt to temperature extremes including heat, cold, moisture, and wind
- Regularly sit, stand, bend, and reach overhead
- Push/pull a force of 25 pounds regularly
- Ascend/descend platforms up to 18 inches
- Pass color vision examinations
- Hear and distinguish auditory signals
- Work in a safety sensitive environment
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Rail transit operator experience is considered a plus
- Must have a valid driver’s license
Job Duties
- Operate the streetcar in a safe and efficient manner within established rules, schedules, and procedures
- Provide professional and courteous customer service
- Report for duty at designated locations in prescribed uniform with neat and well-groomed appearance
- Work late nights, weekends, and holidays as required by seniority
- Work on an on-call basis
- Participate in training programs on operating rules, safety, vehicle operations, and customer service
- Move vehicles within the yard and on mainline for training and operations
- Inspect vehicles and perform pre-departure checks
- Report equipment defects and unsafe conditions to supervisors
- Position streetcars within maintenance and yard tracks as directed
- Use two-way radios for communication and operational authorization
- Clean trains at terminals and change ends
- Ensure streetcar announcements are made and intervene if necessary
- Prepare daily trip and defect reports
- Engage in Herzog’s culture and adhere to attendance and punctuality requirements
- Perform other duties as assigned
