Job Description

Ross is a leading off-price retail chain with more than 2,200 stores across the United States, dedicated to providing customers with high-quality brands and on-trend merchandise at extraordinary savings. As part of a Fortune 500 company, Ross has established a strong track record of success and consistent growth, achieving revenues of $22.8 billion in 2025. With corporate headquarters located in Dublin, California, and additional buying offices in New York City, Los Angeles, and Boston, alongside eight nationwide distribution centers, Ross offers robust infrastructure that supports its expansive retail network. The company places a high value on nurturing its people and fostering an inclusive, diverse workplace culture that encourages continuous learning, development, and career growth. Ross is committed to embracing Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion and actively works to be a positive force within the communities it serves.

The Loss Prevention Specialist role at Ross is integral in maintaining a safe and secure shopping environment for both customers and associates. This position involves providing a visible presence at store entrances and exits to deter theft and fraud, maintaining a command presence that is both approachable and authoritative. The Loss Prevention Specialist engages customers with friendly greetings, monitoring compliance with company policies such as the Code 50 package inspection policy, and actively patrolling the sales floor to detect potential theft indicators. The specialist partners closely with store leadership to ensure the implementation of best practices in loss prevention and operational shortage minimization.

Beyond loss prevention, this role contributes to building a great team environment through exceptional customer service and professional conduct. The Loss Prevention Specialist plays a pivotal role in promoting safe behaviors, clearing egress routes for emergencies, and maintaining the company’s professional brand image by adhering to dress codes and representing Ross’s values consistently. The role requires effective communication skills, conflict resolution abilities, and the competency to build and maintain relationships within the store team. Specialized skills in retail supervision, loss prevention, and security, along with a preference for candidates holding active security guard licenses, are desirable. Candidates must comply with all federal and state security position laws including background checks and physical examinations.

Ross offers an engaging and rewarding work environment where associates are empowered to grow their careers while playing an important role in safeguarding the company’s valuable assets and reputation. Individuals who thrive in a fast-paced retail setting and have a passion for customer service and safety are excellent fits for this position. This is a unique opportunity to join a leading retail organization that not only excels in retail operations but also champions workplace diversity, employee recognition, professional development, and community involvement.
