Job Description

Uptown Cheapskate is a leading resale brand with a strong presence in the fashion industry, known for its unique thrift shopping experience that combines style, community, and affordability. The company operates flagship stores that serve as hubs for fashion-forward individuals who value sustainability and creativity in their wardrobe choices. Uptown Cheapskate is dedicated to providing an engaging and vibrant shopping atmosphere where customers are encouraged to express their personal style through curated secondhand fashion pieces. This approach not only supports eco-friendly shopping habits but also fosters a community of trendsetters who appreciate the value of thrifted fashion as a statement of individuality.

The Uptown Cheapskate flagship store located in the Tempe/Mesa area is currently seeking a dynamic and passionate individual to lead the store's social presence, local partnerships, and in-store experience. This role is tailor-made for someone who deeply understands the local ASU market and thrives on activating communities, specifically with experience or connections within sorority or chapter environments. The position offers an exciting opportunity to take full ownership of building and sustaining a fashion destination that resonates with the local fashion-savvy clientele.

As the community and social lead, the individual will be responsible for creating compelling content that captures the essence of the store's vibe and style, engaging customers through social media platforms like Reels and TikTok. This person will be a natural communicator, skilled at making customers feel valued, styled, and part of a larger community that not only shops but shares their experiences online. By styling looks on the floor and turning these moments into content opportunities, they will enhance the shopping trip, making it memorable and shareable.

In addition to driving traffic through content creation, this role involves cultivating meaningful partnerships with local brands, campus organizations, and sororities, pitching activations that bring new customers into the store and strengthen community ties. The individual will have creative control over the store's visual merchandising including floor sets and mannequins, ensuring the store always maintains an inviting and trend-forward atmosphere.

This opportunity offers more than just a job; it is a real growth leadership role at a thriving resale brand with generous performance-based pay up to $25 per hour. Candidates will join a team of world-class colleagues in a drama-free environment, with the advantage of building upon an existing engaged audience. Additional perks include employee discounts on some of the best secondhand fashion available in the Valley, making it an appealing role for anyone passionate about thrift shopping and community building in the fashion space.

Overall, this role is a unique blend of retail, content creation, and community engagement that calls for someone who is proactive, innovative, and deeply connected to the local market. It is ideal for individuals who have a portfolio of actually built projects such as a social media following, successful partnerships, campaigns, or styled spaces, and are ready to take initiative without requiring constant direction on content or outreach. Uptown Cheapskate seeks a candidate who can seamlessly integrate creativity with leadership to turn the Tempe/Mesa flagship into a must-visit fashion hotspot for locals and students alike.
