The Store Manager role at Burlington is a critical leadership position responsible for the overall management and operational success of a multi-million-dollar store location. In this role, the Store Manager collaborates closely with assistant managers specializing in merchandising and operations to optimize merchandise placement, promotions, and inventory accuracy. They are responsible for recruiting and hiring store associates, facilitating onboarding and training programs, and managing personnel issues with professionalism and fairness. The position requires comprehensive oversight of financial responsibilities such as managing sales volume, expense budgets, and payroll, supported by routine review of operational reports and records. This leadership role demands flexibility with scheduling, including working early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays, and may include occasional travel.

Job Requirements

  • 5+ years of retail management experience in a big box or specialty environment
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays as required
  • Ability to lift and move boxes weighing up to 40 lbs
  • Experience utilizing scheduling and reporting computer software
  • Travel may be required from time to time

  • 5+ years of retail management experience in a big box or specialty environment

Job Duties

  • Direct management and oversight of Assistant Managers, Supervisors, and Store Associates to ensure implementation of established company policies, standards, expectations and initiatives
  • Ensure Assistant Managers and store team members are fulfilling their individual responsibilities
  • Partner with Assistant Store Manager, Merchandising to coordinate merchandise placement, sales promotions and pricing
  • Partner with Assistant Store Manager, Operations to review receiving, transfers, debits/damages, returns-to-vendor (RTVs), and chargeback paperwork to ensure accuracy of inventory
  • Act as Manager on Duty (MOD), lead by example, set the standard, and create a strong leadership presence by following and modeling the Burlington SOPs
  • Manage multi-million-dollar sales volume and expense budget including review of all associated reporting and record-keeping
  • Recruitment, screening and hiring of associates in order to meet store staffing needs
