The General Manager (GM) position at the new Playa Bowls location in Lynchburg, Virginia's River Ridge Mall offers an exciting leadership opportunity for passionate and motivated individuals. This role requires overseeing various operational areas to ensure excellence in service, product quality, and employee performance. The GM's responsibilities range from hiring, training, and supervising staff to managing budgets, scheduling, and implementing company standards in food quality, safety, and customer experience. Job Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
  • Proven experience in a management role preferably in food service or retail
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage budgets and schedules efficiently
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations
  • Experience with staff recruitment, training, and evaluation
  • Proficiency in relevant software including scheduling and POS systems
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to handle complaints and conflict resolution
  • Capacity to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Valid work authorization in the United States

Job Qualifications

  • Knowledge of customer service principles and processes
  • Knowledge of business and management principles including strategic planning and resource allocation
  • Understanding of supply chain management, raw materials, quality control, and costs
  • Knowledge of personnel and human resources procedures including recruitment, selection, and labor relations
  • Understanding of sales and marketing techniques and strategies
  • Proficient communication skills including effective speaking and listening
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Basic mathematical skills for operational decisions
  • Experience in monitoring and assessing performance
  • Knowledge of equipment maintenance and operations
  • Ability to analyze and adjust business operations accordingly

Job Duties

  • Check products to ensure consistency, palatability, and flavor conformity
  • Investigate and resolve complaints regarding food quality, service, and accommodations
  • Schedule and receive food and beverage deliveries, verifying quality and quantity
  • Monitor food preparation methods, portion sizes, and presentation to ensure company standards
  • Monitor budgets and timesheets
  • Schedule staff hours using appropriate software and assign duties for efficiency
  • Monitor compliance with health, fire, and sanitary regulations
  • Keep required government records
  • Establish and evaluate standards for personnel performance and customer service
  • Review procedures to improve service, performance, and safety
  • Perform food preparation or service tasks when necessary
  • Maintain food and equipment inventories and records
  • Organize and direct worker training programs
  • Resolve personnel matters and evaluate employee performance
  • Order and purchase equipment and supplies
  • Assess staffing needs and recruit staff using ADP Recruitment
  • Arrange for equipment maintenance and coordinate ancillary services
  • Utilize point of sale cash register
  • Count money and make bank deposits
  • Complete business and government forms, maintain records
  • Adhere to company opening and closing procedures and maintain records
