The Store (Manager) Leader Trainee role at 7-Eleven is a pivotal position within the company’s retail operations. This role is designed for individuals who are ready to embark on a leadership journey in store management. Store Leader Trainees undergo comprehensive training to equip them with the skills needed to lead a store team effectively. Upon successful completion of training, trainees may be assigned to manage any store within the market, giving them a variety of hands-on experiences. The Store Leader acts as the heart and soul of the store, working alongside assistants to execute merchandising and marketing initiatives that drive store profitability. This position encompasses operational leadership, employee development, customer service excellence, and business management through effective use of P&L statements and store metrics.

The role demands strong leadership qualities, including the ability to provide coaching, training, and support to team members. The Store Leader is responsible for maintaining high retention by identifying and developing talent, fostering a productive and empowered workforce, and ensuring that all store operations meet company standards for safety, cleanliness, inventory, and customer satisfaction. This position requires excellent communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, and the ability to multitask and perform physical activities related to store operations.

7-Eleven values candidates who demonstrate a commitment to service excellence and operational efficiency. Prior retail management experience is highly advantageous, and while a high school diploma or GED is preferred, it is not mandatory provided the candidate has at least one year of relevant management experience. The role also requires a valid driver’s license with automotive liability insurance and the physical capability to handle store responsibilities. Job Requirements

  • Ability to oversee and provide customer service leadership, training, and coaching

  • Experience using P&L and store reports to effect change
  • Ability to manage cash handling, fuel transactions, and promote loyalty programs
  • Commitment to maintain a clean, safe store environment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficient computer knowledge including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • High school diploma or GED preferred, or one year retail management experience
  • Valid driver’s license and automotive liability insurance
  • Ability to multitask and perform physical activities including bending, standing, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds

Job Duties

  • Oversee customer service leadership, training, and coaching for all store employees
  • Maintain high retention by identifying qualified applicants, developing leaders, empowering employees, and encouraging productivity
  • Implement all merchandising and marketing programs
  • Utilize P&L and store reports to drive operational changes
  • Manage cash handling, fuel transactions, and promote the rewards loyalty program
  • Ensure a clean and safe environment by complying with all health and sanitation procedures
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing and maintain proficient computer skills
