Panda Express, a renowned leader in the fast casual dining industry, has built a reputation for delivering exceptional Asian cuisine coupled with a commitment to fostering a supportive and empowering work environment. Founded in 1983 in Glendale, California, Panda Express has grown into the largest family-owned American Chinese restaurant concept in the United States, boasting close to 2,800 locations globally. This impressive growth reflects the company’s dedication not only to quality food and service but also to creating opportunities for professional development and personal growth for its associates.
At Panda Express, the culture is deeply rooted in family values and a mission to inspire its team members to improve their lives through meaningful careers. The company is proud of its inclusive environment that encourages diversity and equal opportunity, strongly advocating for the rights of all employees and applicants. As an Equal Opportunity Employer, Panda Express embraces a broad spectrum of backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives, ensuring that everyone feels wanted and valued in the workplace.
The role of a Store Manager at Panda Express is pivotal to the company’s success. As the leader responsible for the operation of a single store, the Store Manager plays a critical role in steering the team toward meeting business goals and delivering an outstanding guest experience. This position goes beyond traditional management duties; it embodies the spirit of leadership, mentorship, and community engagement that Panda Express champions.
Store Managers at Panda Express oversee all store functions, including hiring, training, and managing staff to maintain high-performance levels and operational excellence. They are entrusted with directing the day-to-day activities to achieve financial targets while maintaining the highest standards of food quality and customer service. The role demands a blend of strategic thinking and hands-on involvement, making it an excellent opportunity for those who thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
To prepare new Store Managers for success, Panda Express provides an extensive training program lasting eight or more weeks. This comprehensive leadership development initiative equips managers with the skills necessary to lead effectively, from team building and conflict resolution to operational management and financial acumen. Furthermore, managers receive continuous support and mentorship from the wider Panda community, ensuring they have the resources and guidance to excel in their roles.
Working as a Store Manager at Panda Express offers not only a career path with upward mobility but also a chance to be part of a vibrant and supportive corporate culture. The flexibility required includes managing schedules and accommodating store needs within a 50-mile radius, including weekends, which ensures operational efficiency and responsiveness to customer demands.
Candidates for this role should possess fundamental certifications such as Serve Safe to comply with food safety standards, and the physical capability to handle the environmental demands of the work, including lifting up to 50 pounds, standing for extended periods, and working efficiently amidst high noise levels and hot kitchen conditions. Effective communication skills and the ability to adapt to a constantly changing environment are essential, as is a strong commitment to upholding the company’s values and guest-focused approach.
Joining Panda Express as a Store Manager means becoming part of a family that values your professional growth and personal well-being. With competitive training, a supportive leadership community, and a foundational commitment to inclusivity and excellence, this role offers a fulfilling career path within one of America’s most beloved dining brands.
