Job Description

Panda Express is a renowned leader in the American Chinese restaurant industry, proudly serving authentic Asian cuisine with an emphasis on quality, customer service, and community values. Founded in 1983 in Glendale, California, Panda Express has grown to become the largest family-owned American Chinese restaurant concept in the United States, with nearly 2,800 locations globally. As a company, Panda Express is deeply committed to the growth and development of its associates, offering extensive training programs, mentorship, and a supportive community environment. This commitment ensures that each team member is equipped with the skills and confidence necessary to succeed at every level of the organization.

Working at Panda Express means joining a family-oriented company that values diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunity. The company actively fosters an environment where associates feel valued and inspired to advance both personally and professionally. Panda Express promotes a culture that embraces family values and actively contributes to the communities where it operates. This dedication is reflected not only in the exceptional dining experience the brand delivers to its guests but also in its respect for each employee’s unique background and abilities. The company complies fully with all federal, state, and local laws to provide reasonable accommodations in the workplace and throughout the hiring process, ensuring equal opportunities for all qualified candidates.

The role of Store Manager at Panda Express is a dynamic and rewarding leadership position responsible for the overall operation of a single store. Store Managers play a pivotal role in driving financial success, promoting operational excellence, and delivering exceptional guest experiences. They lead the hiring, training, management, and motivation of associates to achieve business goals in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. The position requires a flexible approach to scheduling, as well as the ability to adapt to changing business demands, including working evenings, weekends, holidays, and varied shifts.

To set new Store Managers up for success, Panda Express offers an extensive 8-week (or longer) Store Management Leadership Training program. This paid training ensures new leaders are well-prepared to handle operational challenges, lead their teams effectively, and maintain the high standards of food safety and guest satisfaction that define the Panda Express brand. Store Managers are also expected to uphold the company’s stringent food safety standards, including being Serve Safe certified, to protect the health and safety of guests and staff alike.

In addition to operational management, Store Managers must demonstrate strong communication skills, conflict resolution abilities, and adaptability in a high-volume retail environment. The job regularly involves working in hot and busy kitchen spaces, using specialized tools, and ensuring safety compliance for both employees and customers. Physically, the role requires the ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and manage tasks that require quick but accurate execution. This hands-on leadership ensures the store runs smoothly while fostering a positive and productive team culture.

Panda Express’s dedication to fostering professional growth makes it an excellent choice for individuals seeking a stable and fulfilling career in restaurant management. The company offers a supportive network, professional development opportunities, and an inclusive atmosphere where leadership talents are recognized and nurtured. If you are enthusiastic about food service, leadership, and contributing to a mission-driven organization that values associates as family, the Store Manager position at Panda Express is an outstanding opportunity to advance your career while making a meaningful impact.
