Job Description

Panda Express is a leading name in the American Chinese restaurant industry, known for its commitment to quality, innovation, and community. Founded in 1983 in Glendale, California, Panda Express has grown to become the largest family-owned American Chinese restaurant concept in the United States with nearly 2,800 locations globally. The brand is celebrated not only for its iconic dishes like Orange Chicken and Beijing Beef but also for its dedication to creating an inclusive, supportive work environment that prioritizes the professional and personal development of its associates.

As a company, Panda Express values family-oriented culture and teamwork, which is evident in the way it treats its employees and customers alike. With a strong emphasis on training and growth, Panda Express offers paid Store Management Leadership Training, mentorship, and continuous support from its community. These initiatives ensure that its leaders are well-equipped to manage operations successfully while advancing their careers within the company.

The Store Manager role at Panda Express is pivotal to the daily operation and success of a single restaurant location. Store Managers are responsible for overseeing all aspects of their store’s performance, including managing and directing associates, achieving financial goals, and ensuring exceptional guest experiences. The role demands a proactive leader who can foster teamwork, drive sales, maintain high food safety standards, and adapt to a dynamic and fast-paced work environment.

Panda Express supports new leaders starting this role by providing an extensive 8-week or longer Store Leadership Training program designed to prepare managers with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive. This training covers everything from employee management and operational procedures to customer service excellence and safety compliance.

Store Managers at Panda Express must be flexible and ready to relocate within a 50-mile radius if needed, reflecting the company’s focus on placing talent where it is most needed. Moreover, they must be able to work a flexible schedule that often includes opening and closing shifts, evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet business demands and customer needs.

In addition to operational responsibilities, Store Managers must be Serve Safe certified to ensure all food safety regulations are met, creating a safe and hygienic environment for both employees and guests. The role also requires physical endurance given that workspaces are often hot and confined, involving standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and handling kitchen equipment efficiently.

Panda Express stands out as an inclusive employer, committed to equal opportunity regardless of sex, race, religion, disability, age, or any other protected characteristic by law. The company also provides reasonable accommodations throughout the hiring process to ensure applicants with disabilities can effectively participate.

Joining Panda Express as a Store Manager means becoming part of a family that is dedicated to improving lives, fostering leadership, and delivering a memorable dining experience to millions. It’s an opportunity to build a rewarding career while contributing to the ongoing growth and success of a beloved brand.
