Job Description

US Foods is a leading foodservice distributor dedicated to providing innovative products and services to restaurants, healthcare, hospitality, and other foodservice operators. With a rich history and a commitment to excellence, US Foods prides itself on delivering superior customer service and quality products that meet the evolving needs of its diverse clientele. The company operates as a large-scale retail and wholesale food distributor, emphasizing growth, efficiency, and strong community relationships. It offers employment opportunities that focus on career development, competitive compensation, and comprehensive benefits.

The role at US Foods involves managing a retail store location where the key focus is creating a strong service-oriented culture. This means initiating and supporting outside sales calls along with fostering an atmosphere of superior customer service aligned with the company’s core values: great food, great food people, and making business easy for customers. The store manager will oversee daily operations, ensuring that sales and profitability targets are met or exceeded. Responsibility for managing the monthly Profit and Loss (P&L) statements, assisting with the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) budgeting process, and maintaining budget discipline are critical to success in this role.

Additionally, the store manager is tasked with implementing strict controls over inventory, cash, and credit procedures, guaranteeing compliance with company policies and ensuring a safe environment for both staff and customers. This role demands close collaboration with IT teams concerning point of sale (POS) systems and replenishment functions to ensure timely and accurate product deliveries.

Marketing strategy and execution are also paramount, with duties including crafting marketing plans, initiating promotional events, and ensuring effective communication of merchandising programs to the store team. Recruiting, training, developing, and retaining staff members is another core responsibility, involving active participation in hiring processes as well as conducting thorough staff performance evaluations and addressing disciplinary measures as needed.

Operational leadership extends to scheduling, setting sales and shrinkage targets, and fostering employee morale and productivity through training programs. The manager ensures that all policies, processes, and company procedures are adhered to and promotes a safe, well-maintained store environment. Physical requirements of the role include the ability to lift items up to 50 pounds, stand or walk for extended periods, and perform various movements necessary to manage store operations effectively.

US Foods offers an annual incentive bonus plan as part of compensation and a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, disability insurance, employee stock purchase plans, and life insurance. This leadership role is suited for individuals with a strong background in retail management, excellent organizational and leadership skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service in a dynamic foodservice environment.
