The role of Store Manager at Five Below is crucial to the operational success and overall customer experience within each store location. Reporting directly to the District Manager, the Store Manager oversees all store personnel including Merchandise Managers, Customer Service Managers, and associates. This leadership position is responsible for driving sales, ensuring operational excellence, maintaining merchandising standards, and fostering a positive and engaging team culture. The Store Manager acts as the Manager on Duty during assigned shifts, leading by example, driving key performance metrics, and ensuring that the store operates efficiently and profitably. A critical element of this role is the development and coaching of talent, helping team members grow their skills and careers within the company. Additionally, the Store Manager ensures compliance with company policies including cash handling procedures, safety standards, and execution of corporate directives.

Job Duties

  • Responsible for operational execution and total store follow up
  • drives customer experience and sales goals
  • continually recruits, hires, trains, and retains associates and managers
  • identifies internal associate talent and provides opportunities for career path development
  • manages and executes overall store standards consistent with brand standards
  • drives overall profitability focusing on total store sales and expense control
  • ensures proper execution of all cash handling policies including opening and closing procedures, daily paperwork, and bank deposits
  • ensures compliance with all Five Below Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
  • partners with district manager and human resources for employee coaching, counseling, performance documentation and associate relations matters
  • reviews corporate communications and prioritizes/plans accordingly
  • enters associate and management schedules into Kronos and approves
  • manages weekly, monthly and annual payroll budgets
  • ensures a clean and safe environment for associates and customers including sales floor, back room, manager's office, and restrooms
  • authorizes register functions including post voids, returns and associate discounts
  • executes market plan and merchandise directives
  • ensures data integrity process and physical inventory
  • oversees receiving and stocking procedures
  • partners with district manager on store-related issues
  • ensures exceptional customer service execution through training and role modeling
  • holds associates accountable for job responsibilities
  • responsible for Ad sets and follow up
  • performs store maintenance including garbage removal, sweeping, cleaning bathrooms, maintaining stock room
