Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • previous retail or customer service experience
  • ability to handle cash transactions accurately
  • strong communication skills
  • ability to maintain store cleanliness and safety
  • able to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • able to perform physical tasks such as stocking and cleaning

Job Duties

  • be accountable for excellent customer service, cash handling and accounting, stocking, pricing, rotating, and displaying merchandise, housekeeping inside and outside of the store, store safety and store security, and deli food sales and cooking
  • operate computerized cash register, give correct change, scan credit cards, accept and process checks, and bag merchandise
  • remember regular customers’ names and faces, answer and screen phone calls, police the store, detect shoplifters, and listen to and handle customer complaints
  • stock shelves and coolers, complete accurate and effective completion of shift work, clean and maintain all areas of the store, complete vendor check-in procedures, complete the protocol system and “drive off” controls, and advise the store manager of any situations or policy violations having an adverse effect on store operating performance
  • sweep the lot, shovel snow, clean gas pumps, fill water/cleaning solution buckets on islands, and complete any other duties assigned by management
  • keep the hot dog roller, nacho and popcorn machines, condiment center, coffee, and fountain dispenser areas clean, filled, and stocked
  • perform all deli duties in smaller locations as described in the deli job description
