The role offered is a part-time position at the TJ Maxx Store 0480 located at 7349 Lemont Road in Downers Grove, Illinois. This opportunity invites candidates who are passionate about creating and maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming store environment. The primary responsibility is to uphold cleanliness and organization standards focusing on floor care. Key tasks include operating floor scrubbers and buffers, dust mopping, damp mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and spot cleaning glass and windows regularly. This role goes beyond basic cleaning to ensure all areas within the store—such as the sales floor, backroom, store lounge, front end, and restrooms—are kept in top condition adhering to health, safety, and operational protocols. The associate will also be cross-trained to provide support in multiple store departments as business needs arise. This flexible mode of work ensures dynamic involvement and the ability to respond promptly to changing priorities within the retail environment.
From the onset, associates in this role are expected to personify TJ Maxx’s exceptional customer service standards and contribute positively to the store culture by demonstrating honesty, integrity, and respect towards both customers and colleagues. They play a pivotal part in supporting loss prevention initiatives by complying with all company policies aimed at reducing shrinkage and promoting safe work practices. This position requires excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, alongside the ability to multitask efficiently while remaining attentive to detail. Physical stamina is essential due to the nature of cleaning tasks and equipment operation. Additionally, associates are encouraged to participate in recovery efforts throughout the day, ensuring merchandise and store presentation meet company standards consistently. Working a flexible schedule is essential to align with business demands.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- prior experience in cleaning or maintenance preferred
- ability to operate floor care equipment such as scrubber and buffer
- physical ability to perform repetitive tasks and lift heavy items
- availability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
- strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
- good communication skills
- ability to work well in a team environment

Job Duties
- Role models established customer experience practices with internal and external customers
- supports and embodies a positive store culture through honesty, integrity, and respect
- maintains all floor care cleanliness standards including the maintenance and operation of the scrubber and buffer
- maintains all organizational, cleanliness, and recovery standards for the entire store, e.g. sales floor, single queue, associate lounge, backroom and restrooms
- adheres to all company policies concerning health and safety (includes the refilling of all essential items in the lounge, restrooms and front end)
- cross-trained in other areas of the store (backroom, front end, sales floor, etc.)
- supports and responds to all front end coverage needs
- adheres and upholds merchandising philosophy and signage standards
- initiates and participates in store recovery as needed throughout the day
- adheres to all operational and loss prevention controls in accordance with company guidelines and policies including shrink reduction
- communicates accurately and effectively with management and associates
- adheres to all labor laws, policies, and procedures, including associate meal and break period policies
- participates in safety awareness maintains a safe environment
