The role of a Floor Care Associate at TJ Maxx presents a unique opportunity for individuals who are dedicated to maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming store environment. This position focuses on essential floor care responsibilities such as operating machines like scrubbers and buffers, performing various cleaning tasks including dust mopping, damp mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, and spot cleaning. The associate is tasked with upholding high standards of cleanliness across all areas of the store, including sales floors, restrooms, associate lounges, backrooms, and common areas. Beyond floor care, the associate supports operational standards in merchandise presentation, loss prevention policies, and health and safety regulations. Additionally, this role requires flexibility and the ability to be cross-trained in multiple areas within the store — such as front end, backroom, and sales floor — to adapt to the evolving needs of the business.

The position demands a proactive individual able to model exemplary customer service and positively contribute to the store culture. Physical stamina is required to operate machinery and perform cleaning tasks safely and efficiently. Job Duties

  • Operate scrubber and buffer machines for floor cleaning
  • perform dust mopping, damp mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, and spot cleaning of glass and windows
  • maintain floor care cleanliness standards across all store areas including sales floor, restrooms, associate lounges, and backrooms
  • adhere to health and safety policies including refilling essential items in restroom and lounge areas
  • cross-train and support multiple areas of the store such as front end, backroom, and sales floor
  • participate in store recovery and merchandising activities
  • comply with operational policies, loss prevention controls, and labor laws
  • communicate effectively with management and associates
  • participate in safety awareness and maintain a safe working environment
  • perform other duties as assigned
