Job Description

TravelCenters of America has been a pillar in the trucking and travel industry for over 50 years, serving millions of professional truck drivers and motorists across the United States. As a leading chain of travel centers, TA offers a comprehensive range of services essential for travelers on the road, including fuel, food, truck maintenance, and various other amenities. Now a proud part of the bp family, TravelCenters of America is actively expanding its network of travel centers while embracing cutting-edge technology and environmentally-friendly initiatives aimed at sustainability and alternative energy solutions. With a corporate headquarters located in Westlake, Ohio, TA values each employee as a vital stakeholder in the company’s ongoing success and growth.

TravelCenters of America's culture encourages collaborative growth, innovation, and community. The company fosters a work environment where team members can share ideas and contribute to the organization’s future. This supportive atmosphere opens a wide spectrum of career opportunities for individuals passionate about making a meaningful impact in the travel service industry.

This particular role is for a Cashier position at one of TA's travel centers, offering a full-time employment opportunity with an hourly pay range of $12.00 to $14.00. The Cashier plays a critical role in the store team by delivering outstanding customer service to every traveler visiting the center. The position is central to maintaining the reputation of TA as a reliable and welcoming stop for thousands of travelers each day. Success in this role is measured by the ability to serve customers courteously, quickly, and efficiently, creating a positive and pleasant shopping experience that encourages repeat visits.

Key responsibilities for the Cashier include operating the point-of-sale (POS) register, maintaining cleanliness and stock in the food and beverage areas, and ensuring that merchandise is organized and replenished. The role demands prioritization of daily tasks to align with store and management needs, as well as adherence to safety standards to ensure a secure environment for both customers and staff. Effective communication with co-workers and leadership is essential to build rapport and ensure smooth store operations.

The position requires a dedicated individual who thrives in a team-oriented atmosphere and enjoys working flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. While previous experience with cash handling and basic computer skills, particularly point-of-sale systems, are preferred, enthusiasm for learning and delivering excellent customer service is paramount.

TravelCenters of America also offers a rich benefits package to support the health, well-being, and professional growth of its team members. These benefits include comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans, a 401(k) retirement plan with company matching contributions, paid vacation and holidays, tuition reimbursement, and on-site meal discounts. TA also provides a variety of discounts on technology, travel, food, and fuel, enhancing employee value and satisfaction.

Employees in this role should be prepared to meet the physical demands of the job, which may include standing for extended periods, occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds, and performing tasks requiring various motions such as bending, stooping, and climbing. The work environment exposes staff to outdoor weather conditions, potential exposure to fumes and particles, mechanical equipment noise, and typical store maintenance substances. Overall, the Cashier position at TravelCenters of America is ideal for those seeking a stable, engaging, and growth-oriented career within the travel service industry.
