This position is for a Bakery Team Member at Whole Foods Market. The role focuses on preparing and baking bakery products that meet the company’s high-quality standards. A successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of bakery production including measuring, mixing, shaping, and baking dough products while adhering to recipes and safety protocols. This role requires a strong commitment to customer service and teamwork, helping create a welcoming environment for customers and fellow Team Members alike. The position demands adherence to health and safety regulations including Food Safety standards and requires participation in store procedures, meetings, and training sessions. Employees are expected to handle opening, mid, and closing bakery duties, maintain cleanliness and sanitation, and ensure accurate pricing and signage.

This is an hourly position with a wage range of $17.00 to $25.40, depending on experience. Benefits eligibility depends on the role, location, and length of service. New Team Members may be considered for a base rate increase after successfully completing their first 90 days. Job Requirements

  • must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • standing and walking 6-8 hours per 8-hour shift
  • hand use requiring single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
  • able to bend, twist, squat and reach
  • exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
  • exposure to temperatures up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit
  • ability to work in wet and dry conditions
  • ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • ability to use tools and equipment including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery
  • may require use of ladders

Job Qualifications

  • 6-12 months retail experience

Job Duties

  • Measures, mixes, and prepares raw materials according to company specifications and recipes
  • Forms, cuts, molds, shapes, and bakes dough
  • Monitors cooking completion times and sets heat and humidity temperatures for proof box
  • Checks product to ensure it meets WFM quality standards
  • Ensures temperature, sweep, and sanitation logs are completed
  • Arrives to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work
  • Works all scheduled shifts and attends required trainings and meetings
  • Provides excellent customer service, addresses needs of customers in a timely and effective manner, and models suggestive selling techniques
  • Answers phones and pages promptly and courteously
  • Maximizes sales potential through effective and proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product
  • Follows and complies with established procedures including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices
  • Maintains a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment
  • Maintains equipment in accordance with WFM cleanliness and safety standards
  • Performs opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned
  • Ensures accuracy of signs and pricing
  • Immediately reports safety hazards and violations
  • Performs other duties as assigned by store, regional, or national leadership
