Job Description
In-N-Out Burger is a renowned fast-food establishment that was founded in 1948 by Harry and Esther Snyder in Baldwin Park, California. The brand has proudly remained privately owned and operated by the Snyder family. Over the decades, In-N-Out has expanded its footprint with restaurants across multiple states, including California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Colorado, Idaho, and Washington. Despite its growth, the company has maintained a simple and consistent philosophy: serve only the highest quality products, prepare foods in a clean and sparkling environment, and deliver service with warmth and friendliness. The menu at In-N-Out has remained unchanged since the company’s inception, emphasizing quality and freshness as the cornerstone of its offerings. The company's reputation is built on the dedication of its Associates, who meticulously prepare and serve made-to-order foods with genuine care and attention.
In-N-Out Burger is known not just for its food but also for fostering a unique work environment that is fast-paced, fun, and team-oriented. Employees, also called Associates, enjoy a host of benefits and opportunities for personal and professional growth. With thousands of Associates working across various locations, the company places great importance on maintaining a work culture where team spirit and employee development are prioritized. At In-N-Out, Associates are encouraged to grow within the company, supported by ongoing training and development programs. Many Store Managers and Divisional Managers started out as hourly Associates and have been promoted based on their performance and commitment.
The role for which In-N-Out is hiring is a Level 1 Store Associate, the entry-level position for the company. This role is designed to be accessible to individuals with little to no prior work experience, as the company provides all necessary training to ensure success. As a Store Associate, the employee will be primarily responsible for delivering excellent customer service, preparing fresh food items, and maintaining a spotless work environment. The job involves various tasks such as taking and entering customer orders, handling payments, organizing food and drink orders, and performing quality control to ensure every product meets the company’s high standards. Associates also prepare fresh produce, including tasks like peeling, chopping, and slicing vegetables that are used daily in food preparation.
In-N-Out Associates work closely in teams, supporting one another and maintaining a positive and welcoming atmosphere for both customers and coworkers. Responsibilities additionally include daily cleaning duties before and after shifts and maintaining cleanliness throughout business hours. The company prides itself on serving the best quality burgers, fries, and drinks, and Associates are key players in upholding that standard. As Associates gain experience, they learn more advanced skills, including food preparation and cooking, and earn opportunities for raises.
Working at In-N-Out comes with numerous perks that Associates appreciate. These include competitive hourly wages with regular opportunities for raises, flexible scheduling to accommodate personal needs, free meals during shifts, paid vacation time, and fun company events. In-N-Out also offers an Educational Assistance Program to support Associates in their learning endeavors. Eligible employees can participate in profit sharing and 401(k) plans, and full-time Associates have access to medical benefits. Beyond the tangible benefits, employees at In-N-Out often highlight the friendships and strong camaraderie they build within their teams as a significant part of their positive experience at the company.
Overall, joining In-N-Out Burger as a Store Associate means becoming part of a longstanding, reputable company known for quality food and excellent customer service. This role provides a solid foundation for career growth in the fast-food industry, supported by a company culture that values and invests in its employees' development and well-being.
