The Shift Supervisor role at Applegreen is vital in maintaining the high standards and smooth operation of the travel plazas. As a Shift Supervisor, you will be tasked with leading a team during your shifts, ensuring that all team members deliver outstanding customer service and adhere strictly to brand standards and food safety requirements. This position requires a responsible and proactive individual who can effectively train new team members, oversee compliance with cash handling procedures, and manage daily operational activities.
A typical day in this role includes leading shift activities, engaging positively with customers, resolving complaints, completing opening and closing procedures, operating point-of-sale systems, ensuring proper food handling and preparation practices, and maintaining cleanliness and sanitation at the workstations. Beyond operational duties, Shift Supervisors actively promote products through cross-selling and up-selling, keeping an up-to-date understanding of all services and products available in the plaza.
Moreover, the Shift Supervisor will have a critical role in upholding company policies and procedures and communicating effectively with plaza leadership about any issues observed during the shift. The role demands a high level of adaptability and readiness to perform additional tasks as business needs evolve. Job Requirements
- Able to stand and walk for an extended period of time
- frequently bend, twist, lift and carry at least 40 pounds
- requires the ability to speak, read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and policy documents, as well as converse comfortably with customers
- available to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
- maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality, with or without reasonable accommodation
Job Qualifications
- Cash handling and customer service experience
- ability to interact with the public and coworkers in a friendly, enthusiastic, and outgoing manner
- shift supervisor or leadership experience preferred
Job Duties
- Lead the activities of team members on shift
- consistently provide friendly customer service by engaging in positive, helpful interactions with customers and appropriately resolve customer complaints
- complete opening, daily and closing procedures/checklists in accordance with company policies/procedures
- operate point-of-sale (POS) system, accurately process and receive payment from customers, and follow all customer service and cash handling policies and procedures
- ensure proper food handling procedures are followed including wrapping, labelling, dating, stocking, storing, rotating, and checking temperature of products
- complete with a variety of kitchen-related tasks including prepping, thawing, cooking, packaging, wrapping, and cleaning
- stock, clean, and sanitize workstation and equipment
- actively cross-sell and up-sell products
- maintain a solid knowledge of products and services available in the plaza
- assist in the training of new team members
- follow required brand standards, food safety requirements, as well as all company policies and procedures
- inform plaza leadership of any observations, concerns, or problems that are witnessed or experienced
- execute a variety of other tasks as assigned
