Job Description

Protect Our Winters (POW) is a prominent nonprofit organization established in 2007 by renowned snowboarder Jeremy Jones, dedicated to mobilizing the outdoor community in the fight against climate change. With a mission to unite athletes, outdoor brands, scientists, creatives, and enthusiasts, POW represents the "Outdoor State" of 181 million people who cherish the environment and are passionate about preserving clean air, clean water, and a healthy planet. Through strategic campaigns and cross-partisan coalitions, POW advocates for bold climate action, confronting fossil fuel pollution and policy inaction to safeguard the natural landscapes where we live, work, and play. Recognized as a leading 501(c)(3) nonprofit, POW’s efforts leverage the collective voice and influence of the outdoor community to inspire meaningful environmental change.

The Stoke the Vote Events Intern role is a unique opportunity within POW’s vibrant Events & Merchandise Team, geared towards individuals who are enthusiastic about event production, climate advocacy, and community engagement. This part-time internship (approximately 10-15 hours per week) lasts from August 15th to December 1st, 2026, offering hands-on experience in executing the Stoke the Vote campaign events and various community activations in the Boulder/Denver, Colorado area. The role requires an organized, proactive individual who thrives in a dynamic environment and who is passionate about outdoor life and climate action. Interns will gain valuable exposure to nonprofit event logistics, campaign communication, and grassroots mobilization strategies while contributing directly to initiatives that raise climate awareness and engage the outdoor community. Compensation for this temporary internship is $20 per hour, reflecting POW’s commitment to supporting emerging talent dedicated to environmental causes. Candidates should be prepared to work evenings and weekends as needed and must have a reliable vehicle with a valid driver’s license. This hybrid position blends remote responsibilities with on-site event participation, providing an engaging balance of work settings.

In this role, interns will assist with a range of event management tasks, from planning and executing campaign events to supporting on-site logistics like setup and teardown, transportation, and merchandising. Responsibilities also include representing POW at community events, managing event communications through website updates and geo-targeted newsletters, and fostering meaningful connections with the outdoor community to promote climate advocacy. This internship offers an excellent platform for students or early career professionals seeking to develop skills in nonprofit event coordination, community outreach, and digital communication tools such as WordPress and Mailchimp. Overall, the Stoke the Vote Events Intern position is ideal for motivated individuals eager to engage with environmental activism, build professional experience in nonprofit event production, and contribute to a leading organization dedicated to combating climate change.
