The Lakefront Anchorage Hotel, formerly known as the Millennium Hotel, is a renowned hospitality establishment located in Anchorage, Alaska. Nestled on the picturesque shores of Lake Spenard, the hotel provides a unique and memorable experience for all its guests. With its prime location just one mile from Anchorage International Airport and four miles from downtown Anchorage, it serves as an ideal base for visitors to explore the breathtaking natural beauty and attractions Alaska offers. The hotel boasts 248 well-appointed rooms and three outstanding food and beverage outlets, combining comfort with excellence in service and amenities to ensure a pleasant stay for every guest. As part of the Millennium Hotels family, the Lakefront Anchorage Hotel embodies a commitment to quality, safety, and guest satisfaction, continuously striving to enhance the visitor experience through dedicated service and superior facilities.
The role of the Steward at the Lakefront Anchorage Hotel is a vital position within the food and beverage department, focused primarily on maintaining cleanliness and organization in the dishwashing and kitchen areas. This part-time position is perfect for individuals who take pride in their work environment and enjoy a fast-paced, dynamic setting that can shift from relaxed to busy throughout the day. The steward is responsible for promptly and carefully sorting soiled ware to ensure efficient processing through dish or pot machines, cleaning and polishing kitchen utensils and silverware, and maintaining a hygienic workspace that adheres to health and safety standards.
Physical strength and stamina are essential for this role due to the high level of physical activity required, including pushing and pulling fully loaded service carts, cleaning various kitchen equipment like kettles and skillets, and handling waste disposal in service areas. The position demands attention to detail, patience, tact, and professionalism, with a strong emphasis on teamwork and communication with other associates to keep operations running smoothly. Prior experience in stewarding or hospitality is preferred but not mandatory, as training and guidance will be provided to the right candidate who demonstrates a willingness to learn and contribute positively to the team.
The steward also plays a crucial role in upholding the hotel’s safety standards by ensuring floors are clean and dry to prevent slip and fall accidents, using appropriate cleaning products, and performing general maintenance tasks as assigned. This role requires the ability to read and comprehend written instructions in English, manage frequent interruptions, and adapt quickly to changing tasks and directives. Candidates must possess a valid food handlers’ card and demonstrate a high level of personal integrity and commitment to the hotel’s values.
Joining the Lakefront Anchorage Hotel team as a part-time Steward offers an opportunity to be part of a well-established hotel that values respect, professionalism, and a positive work environment. This position is not only about cleaning tasks but also about supporting the overall efficiency of the kitchen operations, contributing to guest satisfaction, and maintaining the prestigious reputation of the Lakefront Anchorage Hotel. If you are detail-oriented, hardworking, and eager to work in a supportive team setting, this steward position could be the perfect fit for you. The hotel encourages all interested applicants who appreciate variety and take pride in their roles to apply online and become part of their dedicated team.
