The Steward/Dishwasher position at Hyatt is a critical role ensuring the cleanliness and sanitation of all kitchenware, cookware, and dining tools. This role supports the food and beverage operations by maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety within the kitchen and food service areas. As part of a fast-paced environment, the Steward must communicate effectively with team members and management to ensure operational efficiency. Continuous interaction with guests and staff demands a friendly, courteous, and professional demeanor. The individual in this position is responsible for cleaning ovens, grills, sinks, floors, and heavy kitchen equipment, as well as properly handling and storing all hotel china, glassware, and silver to prevent damage. The Steward also assists with restaurant buffet setups, banquet requirements, and ensures that all sanitation standards are strictly followed.

This role requires physical stamina and the ability to lift and move heavy items safely, reflecting the physically demanding nature of the job. Job Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
Experience in hotel or related field preferred
Able to work flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Ability to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds constantly
Ability to stand for entire shift
Ability to withstand temperature variations
Maintain friendly and service-oriented demeanor
Effective verbal and written communication skills

Job Duties

Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and orderliness in all kitchens, back dock, dumpster and utility work areas
Heavy duty cleaning of ovens, grills, sinks, walls, floors, walk-in refrigerators and freezers and other heavy kitchen equipment
Wash pots, pans, and kitchen utensils following proper procedure for their cleanliness and sanitation
Vacuum carpeted areas through the food and beverage outlets
Sweep, mop and wash floors in all food and beverage areas, kitchen, and restaurant and dock area
Keep management informed of shortage of equipment and supplies
Operate the dishwashing equipment to ensure that all china, glass, and silver are cleaned thoroughly and sanitation of such is maintained
Return all clean china, glass, and silver to its proper storage location using care to minimize breakage
Knowledge of proper safe handling techniques for all chemicals used
Report any faulty equipment to management immediately
Empty garbage from the food and beverage areas into the hotel dumpster
Know the location and operation of all fire extinguishing equipment
Practice safe work habits at all times to avoid possible injury to self or other employees
Follow the proper procedures in the breakdown, cleaning and reassembling of all kitchen equipment, as needed
Follow all sanitation standards
Assist in the set up and breakdown of the restaurant buffet as required
Assist banquets by supplying china, glass, and silver as required by business demand
